There are too many posts that say the "backlight on" feature doesn't keep the screen lit... I'm trying my best to reproduce that, both with external power and battery-only, and the darn thing just keeps working properly (stays lit).
Can someone shed some light on this? Is there some settings conflict I don't know about?
Make sure you have that option checked in the Trapster advaced settings. It should be on by default in 3.0, but not sure what happens if you have upgraded from some older version.
I'm guessing you've put the backlight reset code in the GPS loop, which is fine when you have GPS updates occurring, but if you don't then this will fail.
Try sticking the backlight update code in it's own timer/loop thread etc.
