I was able to download (THANKS!) and installed w/ Desktop Manager but it won't run on my curve 8310 - keeps telling me "net.rim.device.api.ui.decor.Background" not found

This version of shazam won't work for you since it is the 4.6 version. The 8310 is running on a 4.5 OS and might not be compatible with the file. Try doing a battery pull and see if that helps.

this is a weird thing. i got it the day app world came out. my wife the day after was not able to get it. i even had to wipe her brand new storm last night and reload her os. then i reinstalled the app world for her and still no shazam. oh well sucks whatever is going on. iheartradio rocks btw way better then slacker!!

When I visit (using PC) I can find it.

BlackBerry - App World – The Official BlackBerry App Store for BlackBerry Apps I can see 3 icons near bottom right featured app section.

When I click view all featured apps - it shows up. BTW my country is Canada if that helps.
