Having withdrawl !!!!!!
I had posted this a couple of weeks back but I am still having issues. every time I hook my Storm up to mine or my daughters laptop I get a flash of white screen and my Storm starts to reboot and keeps recycling. It never fully reboots.I took it to the store and they gave me a new usb cord and hooked it to their computer and it synced up. I do not know what to do and I am having serious issues without being able to get my hybrids. oh I run XP and my daughter has 7 and they both worked fine before.

I have searched several times. Hard to believe usb ports bad on 2 laptop at the same time and a total of 7 ports.

I had the same issue. I had to get my phone replaced. I never did take it into the verizon store though I always called them and said my phone reboots anytime I have my device plugged into my computer. One thing I did notice before I sent it off... I tried an older version of desktop manager and it did connect and sync up fine. I had 5.0 sp1 and I tried 5.0 as well and same thing. I downgraded to desktop manager 4.7 and it connected and worked fine. You could try that before getting a replacement device.

I will try that cowman thanks.

Well didn't help.

Well just thought I would sync my wife's Curve up to see what would happen. It worked fine so I guess this eliminates any issue with the usb ports. I contacted Verizon and told them my findings and they are sending a replacement out. Could not talk them out of a Storm 2 LOL.

I am not sure what other things tiy gave tried, but I would uninstall all RIM software (Desktop and Device) from your computer. Verify that it has been uninstalled and that all folders and sub-folders have been deleted. Reboot the computer and reinstall the Desktop manager and device software you want to install and try again.
As usuall, be sure you have backed up your data and third party apps.

Update.... Well a friend came over today to see if he could come up with a answer on my issue. He also has a 9530 with same os on his phone. He plugged his up to my computer and it synced right up. I plugged mine up and it did the same reboot white screen. I hooked his up to my daughters computer and it worked fine.Hooked mine up and it did the reboot white screen. This is my third phone and I am starting to lose patience. It really makes no since to me.

Wow, interesting problem. Recently I had a similar issue with my Storm, but it was only on one computer. It kept resetting on my Windows 7 machine. The computer saw the phone, but BBSAK or Desktop manager would not recognize it enough to load anything. I had to get my older XP machine to get it to sync up and load the software.
The only common thread I can see is maybe some app you install to the BB is causing issues.

Well the best way to do it is to plug it into your computer while loader.exe is open MAKE SURE YOU OPEN LOADER.EXE BEFORE CONNECTION YOUR BB! (Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/AppLoader/loader.exe) and click next where you will see the following screen:
From here I will paste from the Crackberry 101 tutorials:
"Step #2: We need to connect the BlackBerry to the Computer via USB cable. But here's where the tricky part comes in with the Nuked BlackBerry. Do you see in the image above where it says COM1? What we want to do is plug in the BlackBerry, and when COM1 switches to say USB-PIN:UNKNOWN we immediately click Next. This catches the BlackBerry and takes it out of the constant reboot cycle and allows you to then reload the Operating System.
Tip: The USB-PIN:UNKNOWN option will display for a few seconds when the BlackBerry is first connected/flashing its LED in red. With a Nuked BlackBerry, That occurs when the device is in the initial start-up part of it's reboot sequence. The easiest way to get that to happen (vs. waiting for that step in the reboot sequence where you have a tenth of a second to hit Next before you lose your chance) is to simply pull the battery from the BlackBerry. With the battery pulled, connect the BlackBerry to the USB connector and as SOON as you see USB-PIN:UNKNOWN hit Next. You have to be quick still, but using this method you are in control of the timing. From there you can put the battery back in and battery cover back on (Make Sure you install the battery or else when the OS update is completing and the device disconnects from the computer to reboot, it will lose the power provided by the USB connection and you will get an error and have to do it all over again!).
** If you don't get it right the first time, try again (unplug from USB, pull battery, connect and hit Next while USB-PIN:Unknown is showing). You have to be fast and the timing is key, so it may take you three or four tries"

Well tried the above and no luck. When the device goes into the initilize it 354 errors. Just got off the phone with support and they are sending me a 9550.I hope this works.Bummer part is my phone is nuked so I wiill be without it this weekend.

Just recieved the Storm 2 and everything sync'd up fine.I have to say this Storm 2 is great!!!!

Congrats, Ive been trying to get the same to happen to me. I've been nice perhaps too nice because I never suggest a new or different phone, just a working functional phone. I am on my 4th replacement now and pretty much given up on getting a 9550 as this storm works flawless other than the OS issues...
