For me, I can't think of one instance since I got the Storm the day it came out that I said, "Damn, I wish this thing had wi-fi."

Same here. However, there are some users that will deem it a necessity and others like myself who can care less

Those that have good service have no reason to need wifi. Those poor folks who live in basements
And giant metal buildings are the ones who deserve to have it. Verizon's 3G service doesn't go everywhere!
Wifi should be standard on a smartphone! That being said, I'm lucky enough not to need it and
    I love my storm

That great. If you believe your network is so wonderful that the 9530 doesn't need WiFi more power to you and the network. As many will agree you may not NEED WiFi in a device but it's a nice option to have. IMHO the 9520 is what the 9500 should have been.

I also highly recommend you listen to CB's podcast ep 28 and what Kevin and Craig have to say about the 9520.

Nope... never once said, "Geez I wish this had WiFi."

I'm not saying it wouldn't be NICE should the need arise... but I've never missed having it.

No wifi... no care. 3G is super fast and the web browser is also greatly improved. No complaints here at all!

seriously though.....If I wanted a phone that had wi-Fi then I would have gotten one. I knew this didn't have it when I got it and I was ok with that.

I guess the only way it affected me was that it prevented my phone from having a battery drainer utility.

Why take it back? Just ask VZ to send you a replacement that has "flawless" Wifi.

I have my own computer at work and my own computer at home. both have high speed internet connections. usually there's very little need to use wi-fi based functions as I can take care of most of that from a PC. The times where I do use my 3G, I'm usually waiting somewhere and probably won't have access to wi-fi anyway. honestly, it doesn't bother me at all.

I do not miss wi-fi one bit. I've had other smartphones before the Storm that had wi-fi and the battery drain and limited range made it pretty much useless anyway. Plus the promise of free widespread access points hasn't come true, so I don't see having built in wi-fi on the phone as that much of a selling point. If I'm going to pay for wi-fi access, I'm sure as heck going to be hitting it with a full screen browser on my laptop, not my cellphone. So far I've been able to get everything I've needed or wanted to get online through my Storm over 3G. And from past experience with free wi-fi connections, 3G on the Storm has been considerably faster.

    Simply put NO!

At first I wished that my phone could be "cool" enough to have WIFI but after having it for about a month I could care less! I have VZW coverage and that is all I seem to need!

Had my storm on a 2000+ mile trip even along the southern appalachians and never needed a backup to the VZ network.
