So I've seen a poll on where is your storm made and a thread on if you have the screen click problem... and most recently a thread on a hypothetical hardware revision. So this poll is an attempt to consolidate that information into something that "may" help us draw conclusions on hardware revision or manufacturing facilities.

Or, maybe it won't mean anything at all.

    *EDIT*

The following definition should help provide at least a little more objectivity to what is a good click vs a bad click.

If the amount of force required, travel of the screen, or responsiveness to a click is reasonably uniform about the screen, then you have a "good" click. If not, then you have a bad screen.

Really? The iphone fanboi poll has like 500+ hits and a poll that might actually provide some useful information keeps sliding deeper and deeper into the pages of the forum?

Come on people. Rock the vote!

Same, and even with the business card trick, the A is hard to type in landscape and the corners still aren't nearly as springy.

As of right now, we're running around 32% with screen click problems. Also, the few responses for Mexico show 5/8 (62%) with "bad click". Canada is showing 11/51 (21%) with "bad click".

One thing I didn't consider was build date... but I can only get 10 options on the polls.

I voted for "Made In Canada, PRD-19502-002, Model #RBW71CW, Bad Click" because I didn't see that num diff but I have the same phone and click problems. If i put a ton of paper on the back, it resolves the problem except for this one small spot on the top of the screen right under the blackberry name. Weird

EDIT: Actually on the back of my phone, it has RBW71CW in the top right corner of the label and RBW70CW under the IC and FCCID...

So I've tried to compile the data we have so far and posted the contents in the attached image.

So far, Mexico units (11% of Storms in this poll) are running at a rate of 78% with click screen problems. Of the Canada batches, the Model number RBW70CW is 100% with click screen problems - but there are only 4 in the poll.

Overall, it looks like 35% of all Storms in this poll suffer from the "bad" click screen. I put bad in quotes, because this isn't the most quantifiable measurement but it serves its purpose for this poll.

Mods, any chance of making this a sticky so we can continue to collect data... at least for the first 30-60 days from the initial release?

My whole problem with anyone discussing good/bad click is that its COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE...it also has so many other factors with how you are clicking, where you are clicking, which orientation you hold the phone...

    It's just dumb...

My phone clicks fine all the time...I think its better when in portrait and when in landscape I think its better when the phone/menu buttons are on the left NOT the right. But how do I know if I have a good click or a bad click without using both...I don't...

All of you fail with trying to quantify this...

So you just gave us an implied definition of "good" vs "bad" click. If the amount of force required, travel of the screen, or responsiveness to a click is reasonably uniform about the screen, then you have a "good" click. If not, then you have a bad screen.

I put the "reasonably" qualifier in there because nothing will be exactly uniform due to mfg tolerances, etc. However, many posters with clicking problems state that placing a shim under the battery cover (be it paper, cardboard, plastic, etc) results in a much more uniform feel of the click screen. Based on this anecdotal evidence, it seems reasonable to expect a consistent clicking experience from a "good" device.

I'll edit the first post to put in this new definition.

But without touching both a "good" and "bad" device I don't know that mine is good or bad...it doesn't work when your sample population has no basis for comparison...

It's like taking a poll on which of these is good or bad coke from the 50s, pepsi from the 50s, coke from today and pepsi from today...BUT I've only ever had coke from today...How can I tell you which is good and which is bad...not only that but people have varying opinions of taste...

Unless VZW/RIM say something I wouldn't be too worried about it...the phone either works for you or doesn't...if it doesn't go into a store and talk to them...if it does then fine...who cares what the ******* number is...

NOW STOP CLOGGING UP THE FORUM WITH USELESS **** SO IT WILL BECOME MORE REASONABLE TO BROWSE
