Push does not occur "every X minutes" -- push is instant, that's the whole point of it.
There's nothing instant about gmail IMAP except outbound from the BB. I'm saying that google servers are not pushing the new mail the moment it arrives, the way it is SUPPOSED to work.. OR it is getting lost in RIM-land on the way over.

I really wish I never got so dug in with gmail. Having this delay is really a pain..

i just tried this.... have gmail open on my laptop and email open on bb and i read it on bb and it doesnt show read on laptop... never has done this.. or vice versa..
Then you are not using IMAP. You are using the default BB mail setup config.
google "blackberry gmail IMAP" and you'll see the alternate setup.

But have you setup IMAP or just POP? If you set it up all through the phone, that is POP. For reconciliation to work properly you must set up the server to be IMAP - there are directions for it online here if you search (or go on google and type in "blackberry storm wiki gmail imap".
