Okay. I have the .92 PACKAGE( NOT platform, sorry for any confusion) installed on my computer. (Local installation) If you go to the BB website and use the online upgrade option (a non-local installation) and select no extra options, the space required is 50MB. My local installation requires 60 for just the minimum options. Does this mean that the online OS (there is a new one, there are 2 there, the downgrade and the current, but 3 for me inlcuding the local install.)

BOTTOM LINE - I will try this, but is the firmware now 10MB smaller?

It seems the System Software has gone from 28MB to 20MB, and the Core Apps have gone from 29 to 27MB. 8+2=10. So that is the difference. I think it is going to be faster.

In process of installing. Looks to be the same version, just re compiled or something. Will not post link until I can confirm, don't want anyone to brick because of me. Just get your backups ready. I installed everything except for what can be installed thru the app center and the extra language support stuff, and it is only 58MB. Smaller than a minimum installation of the old compilation.

It take a while on the first restart after an OS load. All BBs are like this. Just on the initial reboot, right before the data gets restored. Let's just hope he doesn't freak out and unplug it not knowing this.

or a great sign that he's enjoying the new firmware too much and is having so much fun playing with his new updated storm that he forgot to post.
