EVDO Data Issue? 1Xev w/ .99
- ok so far .99 has been much better on my phone than .90. a little less speedy, but way more stable.
until today, and i can't for sure blame the OS yet, but i am posting to see if i can figure it out.
i tried to go online and it didnt work and i didnt think anything of it cause the bb browser always sits there saying "Requesting..." but then a little later i checked e-mail and i hadnt gotten any.
so i checked my BES and its working fine. thinking it was a BES problem. but then i went and did some things that are setup to use BIS-B and they dont work either.
the phone is showing 1Xev, i think that means voice but no data, or no bis-b. i have no bis-b or no bes.
i am in a great service area that always works, -80dBm, its a evdo rev a area. 95% battery.
i checked and mobile network and data are on in the network config.
anyone else having this issue with .99? i havent done a batt pull yet, cause i wwant to try to figure out whats wrong and make sure i didnt miss anything before i do.02-02-09 05:01 PMLike 0 - I have had this issue at one point or another after every leak install. I always do a softreset and update via *228. These actions, combined, have solved the problem, although it did reappear from time to time with .83 and .85, and I did the same thing again. Note that, for me, turning the radio off and on again also appeared to solve the problem in that I got 1XEV, but I did not start receiving emails until the softreset and the update. YMMV.02-02-09 05:05 PMLike 0
- interesting.
i turned off all connections and restarted them and it appears to have gotten me back to 1XEV, but like you said, my BES is still not working even though it says it is.
also i just tried viigo using BIS-B and that is not working. So i changed viigo to direct tcp, and that is not working iether.
i am going to try a batt pull now.02-02-09 05:23 PMLike 0 - I have this problem all the time. I'll go to sleep and wake up and my phone will be 1Xev and will not go back up to EV. I have great service in this region as well. This has happened with every one of my OS's.02-02-09 05:26 PMLike 0

Good Luck02-02-09 06:00 PMLike 0 - Try this.
1. Dial *288-send then option 1, wait for it to complete, then hang up.
2. Dial *288-send then option 2, wait for it to complete, then hang up.
Go to Options-advanced options-host routing table, scroll to the one/ones that show in BOLD, live it highlighted then hit the BB button and select "register now".
Once all of this is done, go to your manage connections icon, turn off the "mobile network", wait about 30 seconds, and turn it back on. When it re-registers, you'll probably have a full signal.
IF this doesn't work, contact VZW tech support and have them double check to make absolutely sure your hosts tables and roaming options are set properly...02-02-09 10:29 PMLike 0 - Try this.

its working now, should i do this to prevent it happening again? i am guessing *228, opt 1 wont work?02-02-09 10:50 PMLike 0 - Just to add a data point -- this happens to me often (most often when I was running .90) after I disconnect the phone from Modem Mode. I use it to browse online on my laptop during the day. Previously I had to pull batt most times to fix it, though a radio off/on toggle would reset it once in a while. Happened only once on .99 so far, and required a batt pull to fix. I'll try the suggested fix in the post linked above next time I notice this.02-05-09 01:38 PMLike 0
- i am having this issue on a regular basis now. sometimes it changes to 1Xev and sometimes it doesnt. the data on the phone just stops working even though the phone works and i have full bars in a known evdo rev a area. the little data transfer arrows stop showing up in the top right hand corner.
its starting to drive me nuts, usually needs a battery pull to fix. happens a couple times a day since upgrading to .99. i did a full wipe and that didnt help.02-05-09 04:33 PMLike 0 - Sith_ApprenticeMod Team EmeritusIts the radio Code. You can go to the How To section and read how to change it.
