I'm getting a MS Windows dialog saying that the installer can't access a CLSID-looking directory (that doesn't exist) in C:\Documents and Settings...\Microsoft\Installer.
Has anyone seen this? I'm running XP Pro SP2 as "Administrator", and have reviewed the security on those directories and see nothing but "Full Control" granted to me.
What gives? Why the **** do I have the problems no one else has had???
This occurs during Step 6 of Don's post. That is, I'm just trying to "Install the update to my OS." The BB is not connected at the time, nor is Desktop Manager running.
FWIW: I went in and deleted the vendor.xml file and tried again, and it didn't help. The Installer for the .99 update (InstallShield) is looking for this CLSID dir or trying to create it and complaining, and I really don't know why.

Thanks again,

have you tried restarting your pc, if yes then
redownload the leak, and try installing again
this is what i found in a search through google...this is for NT so choose actions appropriately.
# In Windows Explorer, select the parent folder.
# Right-click the folder, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.
# On the Security tab, click Permissions.
# Select the Everyone group, and then click Full Control in the Type of Access list.
# Select the Replace Permissions on Subdirectories check box.
# Click OK.
# Click Yes to the prompt confirming whether you want to replace permissions on all subdirectories.
# Click OK in the folder name Properties dialog box (where folder name is the name of the folder that you selected in step 1).
# Select Start > Run.
# Type %allusersprofile% in the Open text box. Then click OK.
# Right-click the Shared Documents folder and select Properties.
# In the Shared Documents Properties window, select the Sharing tab. Select Share This Folder.
# Click Permissions, and select Everyone in Group Or User Names.
# Select Allow next to Full Control in Permissions, and then click OK.
# Click OK to close the Shared Documents Properties window.
I think setting the folder to allow Full Control to "Everyone" (virtual) group worked. It installed, and now DM detects it as an update and seems to be installing it to my Storm.
(I had previously manually updated to .75, but that was on my previous laptop.)
Thanks, I didn't find that when I googled the error code, but I appreciate your help very much!
Will certainly contribute to the "Findings" Thread if I see anything new!
