great review by engaget as usual. i like the side by side with the bold and iphone vids... the bold is damn slick... too bad its not on Americas best network... vzw... at&t's god awful service makes me want to kick babies.
I really like Engadget. They didn't necessarily say they didn't like the phone, rather, it sounded like they don't like the phone right now. I'm sure this is a tune that will change later on down the road when more software updates. Remember, this is RIM's first touch-screen phone and we have to look at what they've done and appreciate the fact that us VZW people will finally get a "cool phone." Is it as good or better than the iPhone, I think that question is completely subjective and will ultimately come down to the user. I for one know that on Friday this will be my new phone......... and it's gonna be the SHIZNITTLE-BIM-SNIP-SNAP.
I wonder if RIM will give us the option of registering a button press without having to push down on the screen. I thought sure press might hinder typing and it seems that way according to engadget.
God all it did was trash talk about the phone. Real great and unbiased review, remember this is from the site that does word for word coverage of anything apple throws out there....
my verizon curve has been flawless since I got it on May 7th. We should expect things to run smoothly. If not, then they shouldnt have released the device. Im tired of people making excuses for RIM. Demand excellence folks!
I for one am disappointed. I thought the Storm would be the hawtness, but the OS needs mucho work. I was trying to decide on a Bold, Storm or iPhone. I'd rather have a Bold if the Storm flops.
I agree that RIM should've taken more time and released a device that can hit the ground running.
I thought the review was very solid and not at all a one-sided view from an Apple loving group.
Although I am a little disappointed that there are some issues with the polish of the OS, it sounds like a majority of them are software related; except maybe the glitch with cover art when changing orientation of the phone.
Hopefully, this means that these issues can and will be quickly addressed by newer point releases; perhaps even by launch if the OS on the review unit was quite old. While I am OK with dealing with new tech that improves over time, I fear a lot of "users" will be put off with the quirks of the Storm, at least during the growing pains stage.
