Does anyone know if the storm actually has wifi but it has been deactivated for some future earth shattering release? I find it hard to believe that they would release this technological marvel and not give it the newest rave in wireless communication. Thoughts?

The 9530 does not have wifi nor the capability to have wifi. The 9520 does, however.

I think wifi would be great on the new units. For ares of bad reception it would be great to be able to hook up through.

If you own one, you have a spec sheet; if you don't its as easy as a google search. Besides, verizon's EVDO Rev. A is almost as fast as WiFi. Either way, the bottleneck is the Storm's browser/OS/processing abilities.

I agree, in my apartment my verizon signal is very weak, 1 bar to no bars; which is odd because my 8830 had close to full reception.

Yes... All Storms have WIFI. It works great. Go out and buy a bunch based on that fact. Then let us know how it works out for you. I love my WIFI on my Storm.

I've tried this hack and it doesn't really work as advertised. However, I found that if the paperclip is hooked to a piece of copper wire connected to one side of a standard household electrical outlet (it's gotta be copper due to the high-conductivity) that's 41.77 feet* long, it works great!

*Wi-Fi operates at 2.4 GHz, which is 2,400,000 Hz - standard US household wiring runs at 60 Hz so (2,400,000/60)/Pi = 12,738.85 - which is the length in mm. Coverted to English it's 501.53 inches, or 41.77 Feet.
