I tried and frankly find it quite annoying. I've gotten used to suretype but I'd like to see how many crackberry users use the full keyboard over suretype.

I like how RIM added the qwerty keyboard for portrait mode since users were asking for it but I don't use it. I can type quicker and more accurately using either SureType when in portrait or the qwerty keyboard when in landscape. The reason for using SureType is that the keys for the portrait full keyboard are too small for my fingers resulting in easy mistakes.

The full portrait keyboard is useless, the keys are too small and SureType works just fine once you practice with it for a while. I find (except where SureType doesn't like the spelling you use - so you go to horizontal for a word) it's actually faster...

Yeah I feel the same way...the big keys in landscape are nice...portrait is useless in most cases for me

You can add words into suretype cant you? It's in custom dictionary right? Or am I wrong....

I seem to be with the majority of people here. If you've gotten used to SureType, like I have, it is by far the quickest and easiest method to use. I began using SureType because the phone felt uncomfortable in my hands using landscape QWERTY.

Even with fairly small fingers, I'm making too many mistakes on the portrait QWERTY keypad, although I'm sure with practice, that it'd improve as well.

SureType is unmatched in my opinion, but like bigred said, it slows you down when a word isn't in the dictionary, and I often have conversations through IM in Swedish, and well SureType doesn't keep up with that, and I'm not inputting the entire dictionary in the phone.

Personally I liked the full QWERTY in portrait, but I was forced to switch back to SureType because of the goofy *** dial pad issue it causes in the phone app. Once that's fixed, I'm going back to full QWERTY in portrait.

yea when i got my storm i got use to the suretype very quickly, if you ask me its easier to use than work on a regular phone. but your right if the word is not in the phone it takes forever to enter in. usually i turn it sideways and enter it. I have very tiny fingers and i misspell everyword on QWERTY keyboard, the buttons are just too small

I mostly use landscape, but love .. love .. LOVE the new portrait QWERTY keyboard when I need to type one handed.

i definitely prefer the qwerty in portrait. I find it much more useful because i type like i talk, so a lot of slang and such, which suretype doesn't handle very well. I don't really find the keys too small, and I have average sized hands. It's really a personal preference and i'm used to it coming from an iPhone. I'm really glad RIM put it in there.

Another vote for suretype. Im much quicker on it. I only use one hand for typing and I can fly with suretype. Im sure with practice Id be better with the full keyboard, but meh, I'll stick with suretype.

I prefer using Suretype when in portrait view. The qwerty keyboard is a nice option, but it's difficult to type accurately in that mode. There's definitely room for improvement as the portrait qwerty keyboard on my iPod Touch (and I assume the iPhone as well) works pretty well. It seems to help that on the iPod the keys are actually smaller, which allows for more spacing between the keys so that you're less likely to hit the wrong key.

I'm slowly getting used to it. The main difference between this keyboard and the iPhone full QWERTY is that the iPhone has that amazingly predictive text dictionary. It ALWAYS knows what I am about to say. I really wish the Storm had that good of a dictionary. SureType does it ok, but not nearly as well as the iPhone.

Dunno if this was posted or not but I did a side by side comparison of the keyboard in 85 and 90 and the letters seem to be in a larger font and that's it. Boo!

I am very happy with the edition of the full qwerty in portrait. when i first saw the reviews of it (before i had a chance to install .90) i was scared of it not being helpful but it works WELL for me. Like the iPhone, i just had to trust it when typing words. I dont make anymore mistakes on it than i do in suretype.

i first used suretype on the 8220 and i thought it was a GODSEND and fell inlove with it. on the storm, not so much. it works on the storm but its tiring it seems. but i almost never use qwerty in landscape its just not for me

Im still trying to get the hang of the SureType thing. If I can get used to it...it is faster than the qwerty keyboard for me...less error.

I just find my self always going to qwerty be Im used to my LG enV

I had a pearl before the storm so I am used to the suretype and could not use the full keyboard in portrait. I do switch to landscape from time to time and use that full keyboard though.

I use full keyboard in both portrait & landscape modes, portrait for quick messges & landscape for long (more typing) messages.

I had a Pearl & loved suretype having no problems with it but since moving to a Bold then to a Storm I much prefer a full keyboard & found the suretype on Storm not as good as the Pearl. I'm really glad RIM added full keyboard on portrait on .90
