You didn't really have to bring in the flyer...your account was notated for the $50 Early Upgrade credit, if you were eligible.
I used the Pre-Holiday Sale flyer and yes, I had to bring it with me. My contract didn't expire until June 2010 otherwise. I got mine for $200 + tax out the door.
