My 9530 battery had been on its last leg for a while and it finally petered out. Despite my multiple attempts to recharge and reboot when connected to AC charger I could never get the bar on the startup past about 25% of the way before it would lock up and/or attempt to restart but never get there. Now, I've replaced the battery and it still won't boot up. The verizon people didn't even try to fix it (lazy not knowledgeable) and said the phone was dead. I'm pretty sure I may have a software problem, and I'm going to try yet another battery, but I kinda doubt its a hardware problem since all this happened as a result of a drained battery. Any way to get around the startup even if it means a total reformatting (in software speak)? Any other ideas?

PS if it is dead, what's the verdict on the Storm 2, Droid X or Samsung Fascinate. Strong preferences here?
