Instead of paying $499 for a brand new storm could I just sign up for a new contract with VZ and get the storm for $199 and cancel my contract and paid the early termination fee of $175. All in all the phone would cost $374 ($199 for the storm plus $175 for early termination fee. That would be a saving of $125.

Why would you do that? Do you have an acct with VZW?

yes I'm in a contract right now with my family for another 15 months, so I figure this way would save me some money if I sign up for a new contract under my name and then cancel it.

Add a line to the family plan and just spend the extra $10/month.

If u cancel the line within the first month you have to bring the phone back, if you dont your going to get a bill with a 300 dollar charge for the phone.

People keep claiming this, but nobody has ever shown any documentation. People that work for Verizon have posted saying as long as you pay the ETF, you're good to go.

yeah if your wanting to sign up for a new contract and in your 30 day trial period cancel it and hope they will let you keep your phone. i would say im 100% positive they will take the phone back or send you a bill for it... on the plus side i would think they would have to sell that phone as pre-owned for a discount to the rest of us who really want this phone

just start the new contract. wait 2 months and pay the ETF.

that would be awesome if they let you do it tho.....but i would ask them before i tried it. just ask them what would happen if you wanted to cancel in that first 30 days. i thought it worked that in 30 days you can just drop the contract and all without obligation. but hey i dunno...i would ask before i tried and got slammed with extra bills

yeah barry you could be right...but seriously if your paying 200 for the phone 175 for ETF and how much for your monthly fees? why not just buy the phone at retail prices lol

check to see if any of the other 4 lines are up for an upgrade ... 'cause if so then just steal that upgrade ... otherwise, that seems like a good plan ...

i'm doing the add the line thing, i get 300 extra minutes from going to a single plan to a family plan, with a regular phone as the second line, i figured...300 extra minutes for 10.00. works for me. it'll take some finagling but it'll work either way. would i have to wait a certain time period before switching the storm to my line and putting the regular flip phone on the other line?
