Hey all, hope your holiday preparations are going well.

I was thinking today about this: when I first got my storm last week, every corner clicked beautifully. PERFECT.

Recently, the top, on the opposite end of the buttons, started getting "tighter" when clicking-- not as responsive as it used to be. Definitely not bad enough to return, but weird that it was fine last week, and just gradually got worse.

Do you all think the screen might just need some "maintenance" over time? That is, the retightening of the screws?

Could it be that it's in your head?

I know that my screen doesn't wobble that much until I start thinking about it then I'm like wow it wobbles a lot

Also I never notice the border around the screen but when I think about it I'm like wow that's kind of large.

Could this be the same kind of thing going on with your screen?

I work for verizon and I think its to early to tell I have had mine for about a month now and the screen just started to tightin and the top corners are not as nice as they used to be. Im not to sure I have not heard anything from upper management about it. I will bring up the subject on the next call I have with them and see if theres a tickit out for it. or if we should move forward with it and bring it up to BB. so if more people have this issue reply to this and ill bring it to the management.

Well, theres been no new HW issued to this point. But people are reporting better working devices as of late. Probably just better QC in production. That said, if you feel yours is worse contact the carrier and get a new one issued. Personally, I believe the mechanism will hold up for a long time. But you could simply have a faulty one.

I actually had the oppisite happen to my phone... I received a replacement about 2 weeks ago (which I love.. No issues)... The replacement had really tight edges that were hard to click down, but I am no savy with any type of screwdriver so I left it... And now it seems as though its wearing in... I thought it was "in my head" but there is a noticable difference in texting and the such... LOL... Hopefully it doesn't wear in to the point where the frickin screen falls off... Good luck with your Storm though!

Yeah... This would be a wonderful statement, except for the very minor inconvenience that the operability of the phone hinges on the clickability of it...

Got a replacement last Friday and it clicked beautifully. Several days later it feels like it may have started to get tighter. Fortunately, we have until the 15th (or 16th, whichever) of Jan to return it. So this will give me time to decide if it is in my head or if it truly has degraded over time.

I’ve had my Storm for 8 days… and it’s so bad that half of the back spaces and “P” presses don’t register. I called Verizon today…. They are sending me a replacement…. They tried to tell me that this was “the first time we’ve heard about this problem”. PLEASE!!!!

The exact same thing happened to me. Brand new phone a week ago clicked beautifully. I know because that was the first thing I checked. Now I have start
ed missing As when typing because that corner has gotten so tight. I have not tried any of the fixes yet. I wonder if the case potato chip warps pr the screen bends slightly as it breaks in.

I think over time the phone will start to have more hardware issues with dust and dirt getting on the sides of the LCD. Also the screws could tighten or untighten overtime as I see the 2 screws behind the case affect the click ALOT it seems. Next thing you know Verizon is going to come out with a maintenance package for 2 dollars a month to maintain our storms!

    Verizon maintenance package includes:
Bring Torx screws to specification within milimieters.
break down and clean around and under screen.
Click plate replacement due to over use of texting and emailing
4 button replacement because everytime you put it in your BB case it loosens the buttons and overtime will tear it off.
LCD replacement for dead pixels and burn in of pausing porn movies

    ;o)

I've had mine for about 2 weeks and recently noticed a tightening in the lower middle of the screen. I had to put business cards in it yesterday to get it back to how it was before. I am worried that over time the business cards won't work either. Don't know if getting a replacement phone would be worth it if the same thing is going to happen again.

It is interesting that the clicking function can vary. I'm on my 2nd Storm and this one has good days and not so good days with regards to the screen clicking. It is a mechanical interface so there could be something that would make it good one day and bad the next. My first was built on 11/21/08 and my second was built on 12/04/08.

i've actually found the screen to get a bit looser over time (INSERT JOKE HERE)

much like the click wheel and track ball became looser over time with my old bbs.

My screen has definitely become looser, as the screen moves around a lot now. Also, the screen is extremely "poppy" in the middle, and I kind of hoped that would decrease a little over time but it hasn't yet. It's going back anyway, since dust has crept in under my screen so let's see how #2 fares.

I bring this topic up again-- what do you all think?

I got my replacement, but like my original much better. Why should I keep the replacement if its going to deteriorate in a little bit?

Well, yes, but the screen click is integral to the phone's function. If the click doesn't work, the phone doesn't work.

    Woah same wavelength there!
Gap isn't too big but I could name certain women (NOT being sexist) who clad their phones accidentally in make up thus it might be a problem!
I can't find fault the gap isn't big but I've heard it different on different batches??

I am on my second storm and it worked great! until tonight. The lower left corner has gotten tight and there is way less click to it then the rest of the screen. The business card fixes the issue so I think that this is something that is caused by use. I'll be going to see Telus tomorrow to see if I can get a replacement.
