Can't seem to register my Storm with Globe/Smart BIS - RIM.
- I have a problem and I need help!
I have recently unlocked my BB Storm (was locked to Verizon) so that I can make a use of it here in the Philippines. I had BB Data Service on it while I was still in the US with Verizon, but since I decided to stay back in the Philippines for a while I have decided to unlock it and use it here with a different carrier. The bill that I was getting from Verizon for my International BB Data Plan was so much for my tight budget so I had no choice but to give it up. These past couple of days I have tried registering my BB device to Globe and Smart but it would not work out. Apparently, even if my BB device was unlocked, it was still registered with RIM (makers of BB) through my previous carrier (Verizon).
Now, my question is this. Is there anyway I can un-register (if there's even such word) my BB device? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.02-06-10 12:01 AMLike 0 - Hey, like you, I moved here from Canada recently and tried to get it working with Smart/Globe.
What you've found is partially right. Storm could be unlocked, but if the device is still in the memory of any provider in the world, getting it activated on another one will be a tough job. A few providers (don't know if VZW does) have something called "deprovision" which basically unregisters the device in their BIS as well. If they can do it for you, you'll be fine.
If they don't, you'll need to get in touch with Smart/Globe BIS support. They will make you bring in your phone to their mobile center and try to get it working. Before that, they will have a few support calls with RIM directly themselves. So, FYI, it might be a 1-5 days process (mine was 5 days)
If this still doesn't help, PM me and I'll give you a contact who can help out.02-06-10 01:33 AMLike 0 - Which carrier were you able to register yours with? Globe or Smart? I prefer Globe, even though I have all three major providers (Globe, Smart and Sun). I need the contact number of the person you were able to deal with. Thanks a bunch.

I suggest you try those methods out first. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to resolve it if you take the phone to the store today. They have a BlackBerry Tech On Site weekend going on.02-06-10 02:01 AMLike 0 -
