i tried to the backup for my machine, i got error msg 'error on backing up', my dm version is 4.7.0.32 and my device version is 4.7.0.83 (platform 4.0.0.105)

Try clearing the browser cache. Oddly enough it worked for me.

Try turning off your mass storage off options>memory, then try to back up. If DM ask you to turn on mass storage answer no.

That happened to me today and I struggled with it for about an hour. What finally resolved the issue for me was clearing the "Browser Messages" database using desktop manager.

From the Main Menu, choose Backup and Restore.
Click Advanced
Answer Yes to the prompt about Mass Storage Mode.
In the right-side pane the device databases are listed.
Scroll down to "Browser Messages" and highlight it.
Click on Clear.

I tried clearing several different databases to no avail. But, clearing Browser Messages allowed me to complete a successful backup.
