i have a friend with the old storm from verizon and he wants to upgrade his software. What are his options? Can he run the new storms software or is there any other software that will improve his phone?

If he has a storm1 he can upgarde to any storm1 os.

He will not be able to upgrade with storm2 OS. His old strom will probably implode.


Search around and you will find a guide to upgrade OS on a blackberry.

would have to agree with deejayburnout, there are significant hardware differences between the Storm 1 and the Storm 2! Really don't think that you will be able to use the new software on the old hardware!

ok so new storm software is out the window.

jlouang you mention 5.0.230 what are the major differences? and where can i find this?

is updating the software on the storm the same as i would on my curve? I just download the software to my desktop then go to program files and run the app loader. Is it same process for storm?

It can run most of the things you'll find here with two notable exceptions.

First, some of these OS' are for the Euro model of the Storm, which is the Storm 9500 rather than the 9530. Second, there is thus far one leaked OS that is only for the Storm 2 and is of no use to us S1 owners.

If he has a 9530 Storm the best software package is (arguably, it depends who you ask) 5.0.0.230 or one of the hybrids that are based upon it.
