what kind of wipe do you want to do? just personal information, or do you have a leaked OS on it?

You can wipe it completely with a couple programs. And I know there's a way to wipe it from your device, but I don't know the process off hand.

I think in JL_Cmdr there is an option to Reset To Factory or something like that.

is the screen blank, or the backlight went out. if you use JL i think it should erase your OS too. you can do that and then reinstall and dont install a back up.

It depends on which option you pick. One option will erase everything including the OS... One will erase all your info but leave the OS intact. To the OP, keep in mind in JL_Cmdr (if you choose to use it) there's an option that says Wipe Handheld. That's not the same as wiping the handheld from the device itself. That will completely erase everything on the phone including the OS. You want the option that goes something like Reset to Factory Settings.

Deleting everything on the entire device won't hurt anything either. When it gets sent back they will have to reload everything on to it anyway.

Another option would be to take the screen out of the new device and put it into the old device. Not hard at all. Only 6 screws and then pop off the connecting ribbon. Takes seriously 5 mins to have everything apart and back together.

Just peel up the overlay around the camera... pop off the bottom piece under the send/end buttons... take the back off and battery out.... boom you're good to go. Then undo the ribbon.

But most would be scared of this option.
