Verizon is now selling the Storm 2 for Free with buy one get one free. Also, they dropped the full retail to $399. Can that mean that the Storm 3 is around the corner? One can hope!
It is likely because of the storm 2 refresh that is coming. Basically s2 with 512MB RAM. I want the actual next storm device. The one Sal mentioned previously.

Still no love from verizon for storm 2. They're running a banner ad on website regarding free phones. Of three, there is a HTC ozone I believe and a Palm Pixi. I forget what the other is. This phone never got the play it deserved but that's a whole nother rehash.

This explains why Verizon is giving me a Storm2 as a replacement for my Storm1 and not charging me anything nor extending my contract date - still 11/21/10. They must have inventory they need to clear out to make way for S3...or S2.5 depending on what we end up seeing.

Damn...a 10 year contract? And I thought my 2 year was bad!!!
BTW... ALL BlackBerries are BOGO at VZW right now. So maybe its just an Android revolution. First they take over the smartfone market, then planet Earth?
Actually this thread is NOT misleading. Yesterday on the Verizon website the Storm 2 was FREE. I checked numerous times throughout the day. Today it is back to $149; and I know what BOGO is! It is a way for Verizon to give you a free, second, phone so they can lock you into an additional two year contract.
Yes the thread title is misleading. BOGO means you have to purchase one phone to get another one free. It also means you must have 2 lines eligible for an upgrade or you must open up a new line. How often does that actually work for people?
Also I don't think it would be wise to acquire 2 s2's this late on the game.

YES, WAIT for heavensake! The S3 should be out very shortly; I LOVE my S2, but if you buy one now, it will really be "obsolete" in a couple months.
No kidding. I would assume that the S3 will be out by the end of October at the latest. Hopefully we will see it hit by the end of September - but with VZW you never know.
Free now huh? Talk about a sweet deal for new customers.
Not really - especially when you consider being locked into the phone for two years! The S2 is a dated phone that is about to be replaced. The technology is well behind the current smart phones on the market.

Yea but to the average person, especially coming from something like a Curve 8330, it probably won't matter to them if its dated. Kinda like me. I switched from a 8320 on Att to get the Storm2 and it felt like a big upgrade.

They're just giving it to you? My second line has a S1 thats all jacked up but i dont have insurance on that one... are you using your insurance for this?
They are obviously releasing a new device weather it be the storm3 or 2.5 they did this last year with the original storms let them go for free and the October rolled around and the new one was released

If you recall, about 6 months ago you could get BOGO for ANY blackberry with a dataplan for each. This is the same type of thing.
I think they are trying to get rid of inventory to make room for the S3 and some other newer models coming up.
