    I was looking at stuff on my Storm through the DM hoping to remove some of the stuff I don't use.. Yahoo msg stuff like that.

    I noticed that Blackberry S/MIME Support Package was not checked.
    I clicked details and looked at the info in the Applications properties box and it said it was not installed.

    The GENERAL tab lists;
    Name: Blackberry S/MIME Support Package
    Version: 4.7.0
    Description: allows the user to send and receive S/MIME-protected email messages
    Company:
    Copyright:
    Location:

    The MODULES tab lists;
    Module name-----------Installed version----------Available version
    net_rim_bb_smime------Not Installed-------------4.7.0.75

    The DEPENDENCIES tab lists;
    Blackberry S/MIME Email Library

    Should this be installed on my device?
    Could this have anything to do with having problems with gmail from time to time?

    Seems like it should be installed. I'm really not sure... I would appreciate some insight.

    Does anyone have any information on this little snippet..?

    Thanks

    I believe this is just for added security when using a BES system. So unless you use your Storm on a BES at work, I don't believe you should need it. I deleted it off of my phone, and have not noticed any problems with sending/receiving e-mails.

    S/MIME is for public key encryption/signing of emails. If you own a digital ID you'd find it useful.
