I love using it and it works great. I also like messing with it when I am inside, but sometimes it doesn't pick up where I am. It just continually says Searching for Satellites. Other times I can get it when I am inside. My question is, does it pick up your position only when you are outside, in the car, or through thin walls or surroundings? Or does it pick up your position based on your strength of signal with your network (in my case Verizon)? Thanks for the help.
You want to go with google maps if you're going to be indoors - here's why:
Google maps will first search for satellites - which need a clear view of the sky - if it can't find those satellites it switches over to cell tower triangulation.
Triangulation is much less accurate than gps - but it will get you a rough approximation of where you are and cell towers can of course be accessed from indoors.
