I love using it and it works great. I also like messing with it when I am inside, but sometimes it doesn't pick up where I am. It just continually says Searching for Satellites. Other times I can get it when I am inside. My question is, does it pick up your position only when you are outside, in the car, or through thin walls or surroundings? Or does it pick up your position based on your strength of signal with your network (in my case Verizon)? Thanks for the help.

GPS requires acess to the sat's, so inside is not going to work very often (unless you are sitting by a window.)

Use GMaps, it's much better. The GPS signal isn't better of course, but the app itself is.

my usual GPS (not on BB Storm) requires me to move to pick up my location most of the time that i've noticed.

You can't download it separately. It has to be installed with the OS.

You want to go with google maps if you're going to be indoors - here's why:

Google maps will first search for satellites - which need a clear view of the sky - if it can't find those satellites it switches over to cell tower triangulation.

Triangulation is much less accurate than gps - but it will get you a rough approximation of where you are and cell towers can of course be accessed from indoors.

The download from the mobile site won't work. The download is only for BBs running 4.1 or 4.2.x.

Because the technical limitations of GPS technology are clearly Verizon's fault............

I removed weatherbug and bbmaps after having issues with .103. I find Google Maps to be much more user friendly. Try it.
