There is a small message indicator on the top of my screen. It sort of looks like a Joystick with a red dot next to it. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

Take a picture of it using Capture It because the only thing that I can think of that would look like what you describe is the missed call indicator.

to clear it open your messages folder and you will see the invite, just mark it as read
