I bought my first BB about 3 wks ago and absolutely love the Storms I purchased for my wife and I. However, I have installed the .114 OS on both phones and I have noticed that I am not receiving emails, facebook mssg., test mssg. , pic mssg. , and overall the OS is lagging more than the latest Verizon update for the OS. (i believe it is .76) I love this phone and am in no way considering switching, (i am in my first 30 days of a new contract) but is there a specific build of the .114 or any other OS i should try or should i revert back to the latest Verizon update. Any suggestions would be appreciated for this Noob!! BTW my wife is not experiencing any probs w/ hr phone but she is relatively new to any kind of phone other than her regular cell phone. Does anyone think this is a phone specific problem or a OS problem? Verizon resent me the service books for the browser i lost and also helped me get my email going again after i upgraded the OS , but now a day and a half later, i am still having probs. Can anyone give me some advice?

Well, first, you should visit the tips and tricks and how to forum:
    http://forums.crackberry.com/f135/

Also, learn how to properly close apps, because if you just press end, the app just goes to the background and if you have some open they slow down performance.

As far as updating, make sure you follow steps correctly, and if something goes wrong, that you know what to do. OS forum has polls on what OS has been working for people, check that out as well.

As far as emails, go to this website and register:
    https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
**This is where you manage all your email accounts.

Good luck, congratulations on your Blackberry, and welcome to CB!!!

****Also, just a word of advice: Always search before you post, and at least pretend you know what you are talking about, because for most questions that you may have there are already answers. Once you are on here all the time, you will see what I mean.

    Good luck!!!

Make sure your radio is turned on. Look for an icon that says "Connect" click on that. Then make sure the "Mobile Network Verizon" box is checked. Also if you upgraded your OS, its a good idea to do a battery pull. This clears up alot of any minor glitches that we tend to experience. Let me know if that helps.

+1...Thank you. I just remembered that I didn't mention the battery pull. After OS updates, it's a good idea to do like a 30-second battery pull once you are done changing the settings.

Welcome to CB and congradulations on your new BlackBerry. I can tell you right now. When you put OS .114 next to OS .75, there is not a comparision at all hehe. I would try and re install or re download that OS. Then Re Install it. I have .114 on my phone with the Keyboard and MMS cod files replaced to work correctly. Search around, there is instructions in this forum alone, that show you how to do that. And make sure you follow that service books tip. Resend, then Battery Pull. Everything should come back after it boots up. .114 and .113 is leaps and bounds faster then .75. The main screen rolls smoothly and fast. New cut and paste, full qwerty in portrait. There just a couple features to keep this OS in my opinion. Get ready for your addiction. If your new to the BlackBerry, and already installing leaked Os's, that means your addiction is kicking in. And when it comes to BlackBerrys, its OK to be an addict

Thanks everyone for the quik response, i will try the suggestions and will look at previous threads as well. I tried to do a thread search earlier and basically ended up reading up on something totally different after clicking on several links under thread replies lol. Any links to a strong .114 download? the one i am using now came from megaupload site. I switched over from Windows Mobile recently and am really happy with BB and the Storm. BB is taking a little getting used to after customizing several phones with Windows Mobile OS, but it is worth it right?!? Thanx again for everyones help. Oh and i suppose that i can find a thread on here to help me with replacing mms and keyboard .cod files if needed?

I personally had better experience with .113 than with .114. Check out other people's opinions. Also, if you are looking for .114, here is the thread:
    http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/le...9530-a-179742/
There may be mirrors inside the thread, I haven't looked, but usually people are good at making them.

If you need the mms and the keyboard files, let me know and I can send them to you.

I don't see what difference that would make. 5 sec or 30 sec = same result.

I've never "seen" any evidence that it makes any difference. The "idea" makes sense, but in experiencce, a reboot is a reboot is a reboot...etc

We may not see a difference, but I have seen this suggestion numerous times from bb experts.

I also found this for you (.114):
Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

    and .113:

Thanks again everyone. Tried to go to Host Routing Table and register, got one email then nothin after that. Re-sent service books, nothin. I spent another hr. on the phone w/ technical support last night to no avail. I am gettin frustrated. My wife is now havin probs w/ her phone (locking up, powering off when sending/receiving texts/emails, lag time). I was told by Verizon that our phones are covered if they need to be replaced, I just don't know if it is phone probs or just the OS we have installed on them. Since I am new to BB, could it be the specific build of .114 that I have installed on both phones or did I just get two bad phones? They both seemed to work fine until i installed new OS.

I also wanted to let you guys know that I did get the OS from the link that olta777 posted above ( Leaked 4.7.0.114 OS).
