My girlfriend has a 9530 and shes running a shrunk down version of .328. She hasnt had any problems whatsoever with it. I was wondering if there is an OS, or a hybrid, that will give her a quicker running phone without any compromise.

    Thanks,
    Frankie

I don't think it will make the phone run faster but I would recommend .419. It manages application memory much better that .328.

I recommend .419 with hybrid .580 from TheArchitect. I have had my storm since they released it and I have never had a smoother faster phone. No memory leak, faster browser, more app memory, and the phone itself, very smooth.

I have found on my phone, .419 drains the battery almost twice as fast as .328 did.

I used to be able to get two full days out of the battery with .328 and previous builds. Now with .419, if I don't plug the phone in overnight, every night, it's dead by morning.

Thanks, I'll have to look up some more reviews on that. How's battery life?

Her battery life is already junk, I'll look to see if there are more reports on bad battery life with 419.

419 is your best bet. battery life is an individual thing. Jonny might have good life while sue might have bad. Let her try it and see for herself

Its because Jonny's a drinker and sees life in a brighter light... and Sue is a pessimist...

And I agree, I know several people on the exact same ver number as me, and we all get much different battery life. I always run my brightness at 70, backlight 10 seconds, GPS off unless I need it, all background applications off when not in use, ect, ect, and I can consistently get two full days out of my phone with moderate use (several short phone calls, lots of BBM, texts, email) a good friend of mine runs everything on his phone all the time, exact same ver number, and he barely squeaks 8 hours between charges. I like my phone, and he hates his... c'est la vie. And 5.0.0.419 is the best 'stock' official OS I have ever run on my 9530.

I was going to try .419 but I read somewhere that the radio (I guess that relates to signal strength) is not as good as .328

There is a post in the threads somewhere that links the DL site. Its on RIM's official download page. But I couldn't find it.

Go to blackberry.com, click on support and services (top middle of page), then click on 'Blackberry Device and Desktop Software' (roughly middle of page, under the heading 'Desktop and Device Software'. Then click on 'access your service provider download site' (again middle of page) then choose a carrier (you'll probably want Telus, under North America (most recent .419 available), follow all the directions, save the file to your hard drive, then look up the whole procedure on this website (its here, I just don't have the link handy, search it though, its easy) DELETE the vendor.xml file, run loader.exe and life is good.

i liked .419 a lot but for some reason i had lots of issues with the alarm clock when it was plugged in. for example i would set the alarm at 7am and it wouldn't actually ring at 7 - only bring up the dialog box to snooze or dismiss the alarm; then maybe at 7:15 or 7:20 it would actually ring and wake me up. Very annoying - so i installed the_architect's .607 hybrid and it works like a champ now! definitely recommend a hybrid with .419 as the base...

Don't forget to delete all prior OS's in your CPU with add/remove programs except .419 Important if you want a successful update. The loader will just mention apps to add/remove if you run the loader without prior OS cleanup.

I'm running the .419 with Lyricidal's .607 hybrid, and my phone is awesome! If you can figure out how to load the hybrid, I would highly suggest it. I've loaded several hybrid upgrades, but this is the best ever for me. Added a lot of speed and improved battery life and memory management. Much better than the .419 was by itself.

+1 I totally agree. I haven't been much of a hybrid fan, but with no recent OS in sight for my ole 9530 I figured I would chance some newer hybrids and see. So far Lyric's .607 has been fantastic.
