I only want an (audible) alert when I have a text message but I seem to get them for my work emails & gmail also. I've gone in an turned it to silent but it still sends an alert. Am I missing something or is it not possible?

go into the sound profiles and adjust the alerts for each email box down to 0 on the volume

I don't see a 0 but it does say 'silent' - I select that but still hear the chime. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Hmm are you using a built in profile or a custom one?

try experimenting and making a custom profile if you are not using one. Some users have experienced oddities with using the built in profiles.

i have the same problem... i dont think the silent works... i still hear a tone.

and oddly enough... sometimes its a random tone

now.. i just tested it and if i have my sound on normal there is no tone... medium or loud have tone ??

I cannot turn off my alerts for email messages. I put everything on silent and I tried normal. I think I have tried everything.... How can I turn off my email alerts????

...and I made a custom profile and still no luck.
