I had just the opposite problem. .75 would go into hari-kari mode when it got down to the yellow bars. It would flash the screen on and off thus killing the battery. So far, .85 has solved that issue.
You will learn a lot here, just search. I completely bricked my phone today...LOL messing around with crackmem, wiped it got it back up running. Good thing I backed up my apps and database. I would of had a fit, it isn't to hard if you're around computers all the time. I build gaming machines on my spare time and thats more of a hassle than dealing with this.
this one now actually controlls memory much better... but KILLS my battery.. 1/2 day with almost no use = dead battery...
I'll have to check roaming settings make sure it's not searching for 3g GSM towers.. other then that only gmail installed and the phoneLock app.

Phone still gets confused when coming out of lock... and now takes a little longer to come out of lock..
I'm seeing similar problems with my Storm since moving to .85. Harder to get out of lock, and my phone freezes up all the time now. I've had to reboot it twice today!
The strange thing about the freezing is that it never happens while I'm using the phone. Only when it's been sitting there. I go to use it and it's frozen. Also, it seems to happen when I leave it on BlackBerry Messenger, though that may be a coincidence.
I'll have to watch for additional battery drain.
Based on this and the stories out there about the Bold, it sounds like RIM is having some serious software quality issues.
I think the lock issue may actually be a feature, I think there is a 2 stage lock, one that activates when any key is pressed or the screen and then a deeper lock that can only be disengaged when you press the lock button. I think it goes in to the 2nd stage of lock when it has been locked, or in sleep mode for a while. Maybe CX or another BB expert can clue us in.

My phone has froze as well, only while in bbm though.
I don't mind the resets, as i downloaded a leaked OS so i only knew what would be the outcome.
The lock. Well, i think it's just laggy and buggy. I say this because when i lock my phone, it'll sit idle for a moment until i touch the screen, then it locks. However id have some instances it will sit there, then go the lock screen on its own. So i don't think it's a feature, just "buggy". Either way i guess, it's buggy. You're stating some common issues with OS .85.
I am not having enough issues/problems to get rid of it though.
I dont know if this only happens on .85 or if it always did, but when I am listening to a visual voicemail, and a sms message comes through, it stops the voice mail playback. You have to start it over from the beginning. any way around this?
Similar issues here. I too am noticing increased freezing while bbm is active. Seems to freeze with the keyboard stick on screen. Humorously I was at the telus store talking to a girl who was returning her storm for similar reasons, and my storm froze just as a rep there was saying nobody was having such issues.
In my case I'm running the leaked .85. But the girl who returned hers was running theTelus official .76 with the same issues. Neat.

I confirm as well that BBMs freeze the phone. It works best if you only have 2 or 3 convos open. My phone only started freezing when I had 6 convos.
With mine it doesn't seem to matter if it's one or multiple conversations. I wonder if it's a polling issue of some sort? My guess is either that, or something to do with a combination of accelerometer behaviour + BBM activity; I could be wrong, but it seems to stay operational more often if I don't move the phone around/change its orientation. It's more when I set it down or put it in my pocket, or even just hold it sideways that the unit will crash.
mine did the same thing in bbm it would freeze over and over as well as the lock being a pain some times and it saying i out the wrong pass word in like 5 times then it would unlock going back to 75 hopefully tht fixes it for now
My phone freezes quite a bit too. But I must say I got 18 hrs of heavy use today though!!! Running .85 too.

I had a problem with my phone freezing. I had new phone sent by verizon. Once i got the new phone I had battery drain issues. It turns out I had a bad battery the whole time. Now the phone runs great, and all the freeze problems resolved
my phone freezes after leaving it on bbm as well. after receiving a few messages, the screen locks up and i have to pull the battery to restart. double you tee eff?!
I actually don't have too much issue with the batt. My biggest prob is unlocking phone: I can lock it with no probs, but unlocking it is drag. I have to unlock it twice to get to my home screen. press lock key...doesn't do anything>>hit back key.... get screen is locked[w/o lock pic]>>hit lock key again...screen is locked [w/lock pic] or have to hit lock key twice to unloack it. Some times it does work fine, but after a while after being left locked for about a couple of mins, it'll unlock by itself. I didn't have the issue with .76 but 76 was way too slow.
The lock thing is just anoying, everything is pretty darn smooth. Oh, and how do you disable compatibility mode?:D
