.103 is missing Arabic Font Typing along with a few other languages which is a huge disappointment for many international business users that have to send emails in other languages. So I manually added it by copying the following files from .99 to .103

    - BlackBerry.alx
    - net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
    - net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod

    - Other than that, I tested out the media player and it seems to work fine and if this is possible, the sound quality seems a little better, not to mention the Recording still works just like .99 did which is great.

    - Rotating from Landscape to Portrait seems to be faster.
    - The camera is quicker on the snap however still needs much improvement on the quality since it has the capability.
    - The internet is faster and the Green GO button is still there which is cool.
    - Loading Apps seems to be quicker.
    - Over all its an imporovment

I don't use the multi language features, and as long as I can still keep them off my phone via device manager I see no point in depriving those that do need them.

That said, Keep in mind just becasue they may not be in this leak does not mean RIM is removing them from official releases.

RIM [or the leaker] could have stripped them for any number of reasons.

Well said and I completly agree. Most business that deal with international countries and use other languages in some cases to send out there emails.

How did you manually add the Arabic files into .103? I, like you, require the ability to type in Arabic, so I was forced to go back to .99.

Well I manually added it by copying the following files from .99 to .103

    - BlackBerry.alx
    - net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
    - net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod

    Here's the steps on Vista:

    1. Go to Start/Computer/C Drive/Program Files (x86)

Attachment 12896 <-- Click here to view picture

    2. Then go to the folder named Commen Files

Attachment 12897 <-- Click here to view picture

    3. Then go to folders named Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files

Attachment 12895 <-- Click here to view picture

    4. You should then see all the OS's that you've loaded in the past for your Blackberry. Go to the file 4.7.0.90 or 4.7.0.99 they both contain Arabic. When you decide which OS your going to pull from then enter the folder. For an example if you chose 4.7.0.99 then go into the folder and find the BlackBerry.alx, copy it to your desktop because you need to pull two more files. Then in that same folder on the top right in the search area, type in the world Arabic and it will automaticly take you to the two .cod arabic files that are located in the Java folder that you also need which are net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
    and
    net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod

Attachment 12900 <-- Click here to view picture

Copy both of these files also to your desktop next to the blackberry.alx file

    5. Now high light and copy all three files but do it in two sets because they go into different folders:
    BlackBerry.alx
    net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
    net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod

Copy BlackBerry.alx and paste it into the folder named 9530-v4.7.0.103_P4.0.0.131 - a message will come up saying that it already exists, just click replace existing.

Then copy the other two files on your desktop:
    net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
    net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod
    and past them into 9530-v4.7.0.103_P4.0.0.131/Java
make sure you put them in the Java folder and NOT the main folder by BlackBerry.alx

Attachment 12901 <-- Click here to view picture

Open Desktop Manager and connect your blackberry. You will be prompted to update and just click update button and follow the prompts.

That should do it, good luck.

I think the only other language that is missing in .103 besides Arabic is Russian. I was able to carry them both over from .99 by using a similar procedure to the above. I made a diff between /Java folders and copied the language .cod files that are missing in .103. It was more than just two files and all of them had "_ar" or "_ru" suffixes. Then I copied BlackBerry.alx (which is actually an XML file in disguise) from .99 to .103. After that, Arabic and Russian will show up in DM as available for install.

Yes that is correct, the Russian along with a few other languages have about 4 - 5 files that need to be copied over.

Yea I know I can't type in SMS either, another problem that I have is that when I switch from English to Arabic, I can't switch back to English unless I cick ont he Wizard icon and switch it manuallay. Some how the option to switch languages is available when its originally in english and want to switch to Arabic but disappears when your trying to switch back to English so you ahve to do it the long way, which really only takes 10 seconds but would be cool if it was still there. It was great on the .90 build but not on the .99 and the .103.

Yea, looks like your correct, however you can view emails and webpages in Hebrew from what another fellow user wrote.

the OS supports the Semitic font for view only, but no input.

Maybe on the next official OS they'll have all the languages included.
