Is there a way to add a number from the call log to an existing contact? Forgive me if it is obvious, but I cannot find a way to do it. Thanks in advance.

In the call log hit the BB button>copy(whatever the number is)
Go to your contact, select the place you want the number to be BB>paste.
That's the only way I know to do it.
There's an option to "add to address book". Push menu while hi-liting the #

Thanks. That's the only method I've found as well.

This is used for an existing contact
New contacts, Use the "new" contact add button
I think that I read somewhere that you have to go into contacts --> options --> general options and set "allow duplicate names to "No". Then you will be able to add the call log numbers to existing contacts. I'm still a newbie though so don't scream at me if I'm wrong. :)
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it just now, but it doesn't work. Weird that this is not possible. All my prior non-smartphones were able to do this. Oh well, no biggie. Thanks again.
Not a natively supported capability. Yeah, I know... stupid. There was a 3rd party app that can do it, but that's it. Don't know why RIM won't add it in.
Civic - you always know what you're talking about. So, I'm assumong the error is on my part. I took a screen shot from my call log. I scrolled to the number I wanted to add to my address book and pressed the menu button. Why do you say that adding a caller to your address book from the call log is not a "supported capability"? Am I missing something...

OK - that makes sense. So, the question is...
I have John Smith in my address book with a home number only. John calls me from his mobile number. I want to add the mobile number to the address book without creating a new contact.
The only solution is to copy the number >> go to contacts >> edit >> paste
am I understanding this?
Yes, that is correct.
I just use the copy number then go to address book.. It's stupid on RIM's side, but whatever, it doesn't hurt me too much to go around a little.
just gotta work with it a lil.... so many menus..
Yes you can!!! My husband just got the new Z10 and was having trouble. Here is how you do it. Press and hold the number you want to add and a menu screen will pop up at the right margin. Then select the profile icon with the plus sign and voila you can select add new contact. Hope this helps.
