9530 update by the end of May according to VZW Manager and Regional Manager
- My dsc said definately nothing in may.... Next to be tested is .150
It's best to ask the Data Consultants within VZW before you ask RM or Store Managers.
I have talked to DC's when every one of the four updated software versions were to be released. Have actually played with the real unreleased versions that they have had on the phones. Only to find out a few days or week later that VZW squashed it bc of certain things. This last one was so close that testers had already submitted their final reports on it. Then the whammy came and it was denied AGAIN!
I have heard the end of May by numerous higher ups in VZW, however, even I won't believe it until it comes out.05-18-09 12:56 PMLike 0 - patches152BannedLord, i hope not. they need to just drop the whole 4.7 testing and everything that isn't the newest possible 5.0 build that they have, and start from there...05-18-09 12:58 PMLike 0
- I have never been told to inform a customer that an update is coming, chances are if someone tells you that the info is coming out of their @$$
Yes and no. I'm sure their higher ups are telling them to tell people "an update is coming" because it is. There's just no telling when, so they're just guessing on the date.
Seems every time an update was supposed to come "at the end of the month" the update failed to pass VZWs QC and was canned (and then eventually leaked). Considering it takes about a month for testing to complete (or get to the final stages), "the end of the month" is a pretty safe estimate.
It's just a matter of figuring out which month.05-18-09 12:59 PMLike 0 - Agreed, but chances of that happening, well, you know ;-)

but if the VZW reps/techs/salespersons/cleaning ladies are ANYTHING like the ones where i live, i wouldn't believe em if they told me it was stormin (pun intended) outside on a rainy day.
The lady that sold me my Storms flaunts a Storm herself (never mentioned the software issues after loads of questions about the phone) and SHE'S the one that told me about crackberry.com (I'll give her that one) but only to dowload free ringtones. Uhh....did she not know that any song on your phone/media card can be a ringtone?? I could have explained to her how i use Audacity to make my own 15-second ringtones from my music with effects. Not to mention the $150+ worth of accessories she so conveniently brought out from the back with the phones that i didn't ask for.
Point here is they have a job and its to keep you as a customer (tell you whatever they have to) while at the same time emptying your wallet (or purse) and filling theirs up.

- Give the new people a break though... Maybe there should be some automatic reply when someone posts a thread that has the words, "A Verizon rep told me..."
The automatic reply could be something like, "Welcome to Crackberry. Enjoy your time here. Use the search function. Never believe what a Verizon rep has to say about a new OS for your Storm."
BRILLIANT!!!
That's an outstanding idea... won't be done, but outstanding just the same...
For the OP- like was mentioned before, do some searching & dive into the "Leak Zone"... your Storm will love you for it!05-19-09 12:35 AMLike 0 - So my friends aunt, her brother in-law heard from a guy at work who was friends with a guy who made the Storm by hand in canada said the new OS would be out in time for the next election.
......but he did say maybe....05-19-09 08:02 PMLike 0
