Okay, I am up and running. Lyr, I did run 6.0Files.exe on top of this Leak. So far, very snappy.
I am running:
BerryJoose
Opera Mini 5
BBM Beta 5.0.1.17
BB Traffic BETA
Berry Weather
Player for Youtube
Poynt
Tether
Available memory at Initial boot: 24MB (Keep in mind I have 8 email accounts and bunches of messages)
Yeah I am using the new BBM beta 5.0.1 and Groups work much better with this build than with previous builds. I am not getting near as much lag as before.
How's the battery life? If it's better than .591 I'm sold
I just installed it. You won't get a good idea of battery life for at least two or three days of constant use. People who immeadiately put a new OS on and tell you the battery life is great are full of it.
.591 battery so bad you will know if this is better after 30 mins. Done 2 reboots, reset severa passwords at several sites, reprogrammed *228 the phone, and only down to 90 percent. Yes the battery life is better and the video camera has good sound.
Sooo far, this OS seems pretty snappy between apps, the browser seems the same speed as .591 (bit of a disappointment, was hoping faster like the wife's tour on .732) and all the big .591 icons are still there. Apploader knocked my BBM back down to .66 so I immeadiately loaded the beta BBM back on, and so far it works excellent (it seems to be faster between chats). I think boot up time is a bit slower than .591 (i don't really care) and it now sports a thinner progress bar (and the little sand timer is there like .591 instead of .419's clock timer... Uhmm, I haven't really tested reception yet, but the bars seem to be lower on average than .591 (but the display bars aren't always telling the truth) and for those of you worried about size, this OS does seem 2 - 3 megs larger overall than .591 ... The camera *** is working, but the icons aren't displayed on the screen, just push where the icons are supposed to be.
I like the larger icons and time on the home screen. The camera is working for me with no lag but like mechanic_joe stated there are no icons on screen for camera controls, though I usually use the side buttons anyway. My memory after two battery pulls is 38.8 with no apps installed.
I am happy to have another OS that is better than .419 because that is what I have been using because I didn't like the keyboard error and battery life of .591. But after my 15 minutes I spent with this OS, I do like it as it seems pretty responsive. The transitions seems better to me too. Not sure if this was in any other OS but holding down the back button closes stuff now instead of running in the background.
My signal bar seems to go from 2 to 4 bars every now and again, but I am getting 1XEV in caps a lot longer than before with .419
Actually the camera just froze for me. I hit end right after taking a picture when it preview and it won't open back up
@lyricidal..... Would replacing the camera files from a previous OS fix this issue?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
My camera only did this for me once after a reboot, now it seems consistently fine... Oh, but your finger has to be in EXACTLY the right spot for taking the picture, and you need to keep it there for one second for the autofocus to work before pushing on the screen to take the pic. Just what I've found.
Another foot note, in .591 the call menu would disappear off the bottom after one use after reboot, that call menu seems to be working fine in this OS. Another thing, sometimes on .591 my picture folder would be very slow to load or slow to scroll between pictures, and with this OS it seems v v fast.
