You can find the quote in the Storm Ownere Lounge under the
4.7.0.500 Waiting Room thread
If you're using the .90 SFI file, then it's not a 103/106 hybrid. It's a 90/106 hybrid. The java files come from 106 and the sfi (core OS) comes from .90. The only way to get a 103/106 hybrid is to use the sfi of 103 and the java files from 106.... like everyone else is doing, but this of course will cause you to loose your non-standard large keyboard font.
If you guys want my opinion, any sfi below .99 was as buggy and non-stable as anything. I wouldn't use them at all. Too many issues.
Civic,
Can you clarify for me what this thread is giving instructions for?
http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/ma...-depth-161434/
I was thinking that it was adding the SFI from .90 to the hybrid of .103 and .106 to solve the color depth issue (the keyboard is a bonus!). Is this not the case?
I'm not as savvy as others here, but am certainly learning lots while installing these leaked OS's, hybrids, etc. What an education!
Do you think that going back to the .103 SFI will solve the issues I'm having above? .103 was equally as bad for me as .90. I had many, many complete shutdowns and had to pull the battery to get the phone back. This happened during calls three times (once to Verizon; lol) and many times upon removing the phone from the holster to answer a call or check a message, email, etc.
Thanks for any insight. We women gotta stick together here!
You are in the wrong part of DM.
IN DM
Click -> apploader
Then in the Update Software box on the right click start
The add/remove programs that it sounds like you went to will not have the core programs. A ton of people miss this and tell you you have to reload.
man thanks for all the responses guys. i actually just gave up and reverted back to .103. i did notice the speed increase in the phone, but the batt life sucked? when i went back to .103 the core apps were listed again so im good. but thanks again for the quick responses
faster overall for me. from 103. i hated waiting so long for the device to unlock, dont seem to have to wait as long. accelerometer is definently moving faster. and screen transitions are really smooth now.
The keyboard "goofyness" (and I say goofyness because I don't believe it was ever intended to be like that, comes from the SFI file in .90. The rest of the OS (JAVA files) come from the 106 9500 version in that writeup. The OP in that thread is copying 106 on top of 103 (instead of interchaning the JAVA folders, so that's why they think it's a 103/106 hybrid. If you simply use the SFI of .90 and the JAVA of 106, you have a 90/106 hybrid and you'll have the larger keyboard font, but along with that will come all the other hardware issues you had when you ran .90 alone (with some exceptions which were tied to the .90 JAVA rather then the .90 SFI).
Thank you for educating me some more. I think I'll leave it for now as it seems to have stabilized somewhat. I reinstalled the ScreenLock app and that brought back my VM dialing function as well (go figure). I haven't seen the screen flicker in a bit and calls, etc. are coming through so we'll see what happens over the next day or so. If I'm not getting random reboots or shutdowns, the memory stays fairly stable and the applications are usable, then I'm happy for now. I can live without the application center until an official update is released (that's stable).
Why would it not be a high priority for them? MMS is a core feature of cel phones these days.
Findings are truly hard to find in this thread.
Can someone speak to the difference in typing speed between 103 and the 103/106 hybrid?
103 was unbearable for me because of the typing issues. I currently use Sith's hybrid, 1st edition, and am mostly happy unless I get cause in a TSOD loop. A random reboot and SOD caused me to sleep in the other morning, not impressed...
Typing lag almost nill
No VSOD
No random reboots
No media issues
MMS works on mine
No email issues
Browser seem quicker
Portrait to landscape faster
Mem holding at 38.4
Battery at 76% after 10hrs with heavy use
No media card errors
I have been running this since Saturday the 14th and have not had to do one battery pull.
How that!
no browser configuration service book entries after install
I know I saw this somewhere but not sure where
help please?
Thank crackman, looks like I will give it a try.
Options>advanced options>host routing table>BB>register now
Then *228 option 1
Just had an issue with getting an e-mail and my screen went out. Light kept blinking and no buttons would respond. Had to reset to solve problem.
Haha after I reset it the e-mail was from the Navy...that's why it threw up.
Thank you very much
I never had to do that before
I'll report back to the thread when I've checked out this os a little more
I've had .99 and 2 of Sith's hybrids so far and I'm looking for better
Thanks again, I love these forums
is .106 actually out or is this for the hybrid .106? Thread title is really deceiving.
would someone kind enough to make a sticky on updates of the different OS version that was leaked/ tried?
although it didnt take more than 5 min to find out but a sticky with the versions and few lines of pros/cons on the findings would be nice...
Thank you!
I am now on the .106 for my 9500 and its been great!
very responsive and a must replace for the .78 it came with ;p
[still no asian fonts so i had to install the chinese packs outlined in "Junjie's China blog" - for displaying (no inputting). The problem with this is that its not fully compatible with storm and after installing, though most of the characters display it will show an error message every time u do a restart/battery pull...
Hopefully once some asian country gets an official release on storm they will implement this to the OS so we can update.]
There are a few people here running .106. It is not available in the wild though
Had the .103/106 hybrid for a day and everything works great. Only one random reboot so far.
So does either .103 or .106 fix the muffled microphone issue a lot of people are having.
lol...there's a new "issue" every day.
I havent had that problem with either of those builds
I have been using the .103/.106 hybrid for 2 full days and it seems faster overall than any of the other betas. I still get the clock when switching apps and screens at times, but not as often as .99. Browser works a bit faster, locking is better and so far, no freezing while playing music. I use Google Maps, poynt, quickpull, buzzme, myspace, facebook, quicklaunch, and bolt along with the pre-loaded apps. Not REALLY fast, but best so far. I am a newbie, but am enjoying learning about my first blackberry.
I saw a user posting that they were running .113 for the 9530. Does anyone know about this? i'd like to get it if possible.
