But since you are new, the main difference between the two is the radio frequencies on which they work and on which they possibly could work (CDMA vs GSM). And maybe the OS versions they are running upon release. Welcome to CB btw!

In the usa verizon is 9530 so if you buy it in the usa thats pretty much what you will get it will still have the ability to roam out of country but verizon network is the main network for it in the usa.
The 9500 is for across the pond.

No, but really: the difference is US/Canada get 9530, everyone else gets 9500.

so if the only diff is the cdma thing whyis there more apps on handango for the 9500 than the 9530 and when i tried to purchase it said it doesnt run on my operating system?
You have to remember that the 9500 and 9530 are not exactly the same (radios and software due to service providers) so each has a very similar OS but in the same respects it is also very different.
Very good question im glad you asked, heres what I know for sure, the blackberry storm 9500 has wifi, comes standard with a 16gb(9530 has an 8) memory card and I understand is much faster. I think the camera may be a little better also but dont quote me.

The 9500 is GSM only.
The 9530 is CDMA AND GSM.
Otherwise they are the same...
And neither one offers GSM 3G frequencies in the US and Canada. Only EDGE. 3G is CDMA only here.

Lol I think he was trying to make reference to the storm2. I was surprised no one said anything about the storm2 since the OP asked about getting the NEW storm. But that's a moot point since this is an old thread.
