Well the China Mobile Peoples Telephone has the Storm listed, but it's the 9500. I wonder if that's a different Telecom company. It's the only one on the RIM download site with the word "China" in it.

China Mobile and China Telecom are two different companies. I believe CM uses GSM and CT uses CDMA, so it would make sense that CM has the 9500 and CT will now support the 9530. Let's hope some of our Chinese friends help us by leaking the .672!

Wonder why CT doesn't show up on the list of carriers that RIM has devices on. If the .672 is their official build, then we wouldn't need a leak, we could just snag it from RIM.
The good news......if CT is going to sell a few million 9530's (should be easy to do in China!), maybe that's enough incentive for RIM to keep working on OS updates!!! We can only hope!!
Is that supposed to be rumored in the link you posted or is it from some other rumor source? Hard to know if this is intended to be more credible rumor that the typical "a guy in the verizon store told me ..." kind of stuff

Do a search and you will find it. From what I read, it is more than a rumor. See the link I posted. They should be selling the phones by the end of May, 2010.
You can also find China Telecom on the RIM site and if you go to it, you will see that the 9530 is listed, but no OS yet. The do seem to have Desktop Manager and some other software. You need to poke around a little since most of the web site is in Chineese, but there is enough English to find what I am speaking about.
Or did VERIZON terminate the S1 early and leave RIM with a surplus... Or maybe they are all the refurbished units... Was really surprised to see VERIZON keep the S1 in their line-up for so long...
The two companies have introduced Blackberry Storm 9530 smartphones with "push mail", an automatic e-mail transfer function, initially in 16 provinces on Monday, while more models including the 9630 are in the process of being customized for Chinese customers, China Telecom said on Monday.
The retail price of the product is set at 5,680 yuan ($832), but it may be available at a reduced price when bundled with the service, Ma said, without elaborating.

5.0.0.419 is available from Verizon, Bell, Telus, MTS and SaskTel - pick a carrier from the RIM website, and download (Verizon points back to the carrier site, the rest download directly from RIM. If you download from a non-verizon carrier, remember to delete the vendor.xml file after the install)
