about 24 hours after the .85 update, I'm having all kinds of screen issues. Rotation not working, unlock key not working, keyboard not showing up completely. It's UGLY!!!

Now I have to figure out how to go back to .75...

I also have reboot issues when I get emails. Not as many today as yesterday so I hope that means things are stabilizing. Just noticed something very weird in my media player though.

I have about 7 or 8 videos loaded. All of them play perfectly except one. It's BACKWARD or UPSIDE DOWN! If I hold the phone as I normally do (hard buttons to the right), then the movie plays upside down. If I turn the phone over (hard buttons to the left) then the movie is rightside up, but backwards. All the other movies play the right way but the accelerometer doesn't work with any of the videos or movies. It works fine in the other media modes. It was NOT doing this in .83 or any previous version. I watched this movie on December 26th and it wasn't backward then. Very strange indeed!

    Toothberry...

I'm sure the version Verizon releases won't be the same as .85, but at this point...I don't care what the version number is. LOL I loaded the leaked .83 and .85 and had nothing but problems. At least .83 ran for almost 2 weeks before going ape****. .85 lasted a whole whopping day! I'm back to .75 which, on my device, is working just fine.

I had .85 installed since jump street and had only a few issues. Tonight I decided I wanted to do a wipe with Jl_Cmdr and re-install to see if it would clear some of them up. Unfortunately, I am now stuck with the 507 error and every time I try to install .85 again it says it cannot find any updates. I removed and downloaded the software again to no avail. Any ideas???

I'm not having any problems with .85.... prior .83 was somewhat buggy (just the usual ones reported). I have had every leaked and official OS installed on my system. I have wiped the Storm prior to each install, resynched, restored backup, done the manditory battery pull and been good to go.

For those of you having problems with DM/App loader not seeing .85 and only seeing .75 try this (I have had to do this each time).

    1. Uninstall prior "BlackBerry Device Software v4.7.0 for the BlackBerry 9530 smartphone" using the windows control panel. (Do not uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7 by mistake).

    2. Then go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader" and delete all of the files still in there including the images folder. NOTE: I am using Vista64, if you are using Vista32 it will be in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader" directory.

    3. Do your wipe (instructions are all over this forum) (http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-wipe-jl_cmder-53502).... or do not, your choice.

    4. Lock the internet using your firewall (ZoneAlarms or Comodo firewall have a button for this) or just unplug your cable or stop your wireless connection.

    5. Run the "9530AllLang_PBr4.7.0_rel120_PL4.0.0.107_A4.7.0.85 .exe" program to install the new OS into the AppLoader directory that you just emptied.

    6. Start DM/App Loader and wait.... it will attempt to connect to the internet and download the "Official .75" OS. (You did remember to lock/disconnect from the internet?) Eventually it will search the AppLoader directory and give you the option to install the new OS. Check the boxes of the files/programs you wish to install.

    7. If you backed up your 3rd party apps (another thread/set of instructions on this forum - http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...ications-53201) now is a good time to use the Browse button to locate the "yourpin#.alx" file you previously saved. DM will load your 3rd party programs and you can now check the additional boxes to install these programs if they are not already checked.

    8. Click the Next button AND WAIT until everything is loaded and the Storm has rebooted.

    9. Synch your storm..... restore your backup file..... here is where I do the battery pull..... and you should be good to go.

BE CERTAIN TO SYNCH AND BACKUP ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE.

You will probably need to enter your passwords for 3rd party apps to reconfigure them ie. WorldMate will not remember your cities or time zones.

Aside from that the entire process should take 20-30 minutes, much of it waiting for the Storm to reboot.

Hopes this helps anyone who is having this problem.

P.S. I do not delete the vendor.xml file after installing the new OS.... when I have done that many of the vendor contracted apps (Memo Pad, Tasks, BB Maps, etc.) do not show up in the app load (they are simply missing and there are no little boxes to check).

Started the morning with 100% battery life. (7:30am)

    Pretty much did the following:

    Checked news on APNEWS mobile
Checked this forum on the browser
BB Messenger all day (phone froze once and i had to do first battery pull of the day)
Listened to an hour of music coming back from work
    More BB Messenger
Talked on phone for about 2 hours

My battery life is now at 25%. (11:50pm) Impressive

My signal now stays on 1xev instead of 1xEV. Someone said that they sent me 5 msgs but i don't see it. Thought I had to do another battery pull but then I then go to BB Messenger and as soon as I send a message, her messages from 2 hours ago all came flooding in. My 1Xex changed to 1XEX too.

Tried to go on browser to report my experience on howardforums.com but could not get the page to load. Then again, the site it won't load on my laptop either so can't really say for certain whether my browser got messed up.

Did a battery pull regardless cause i'm a geek like that.

    End of day 2

also when the phone reboots after a battery pull, the feature where the screen is not supposed to light up when pressing it does not work. Pressing the screen still lights it up and prompts you to unlock with password.

After actually locking the phone and trying it, the screen does not light up.

is it better for someone who is kinda unfamilliar with the storm to just wait for the official update? I don't know what a wipe is of the os system. I did delete some of the aps i didn't use to free up some room. Not sure I should try to install a whole os that is not official.

    Download .85
    Install .85
    Disconnect from the internet
    Open DM
    Plug in your BB
It should automatically update or ask you to update, but if it doesn't go to "Application Loader" then "Update Software" then choose .85.
