Get rid of useless apps/programs to speed it up. I got rid of Brick Breaker, Password keeper, and Help. Never needed it.

So far not really happy. Accelerometer is faster - except media, camera is still laggy, no bt in video, memory leak seems worse and overall not much faster. I think I will go back to .76, it seemed to work best.

I get the feeling RIM is forgetting that this a phone. Seems like they are neglecting the phone performance on their updates

Thanks alot guys. Big help. Just finished with .85 should I do a bat pull and reboot the BB after Im done?
Yeah... always do a batt pull after the OS is done installing. If you get locked on "media card inserted" just keep doing it until it works. I had to do it twice.

I'm still getting the "Media card inserted" error after a battery pull... it does it EVERY time now.

Hmm... I can't boot into my phone anymore because even with the microSD card out it STILL shows me that message.

    argh.

Thanks for your answers, but I am now more uncertain than ever - had some more people saying it is safe, others saying it will not work!

Has any owner of the 9500 tried this update??
Nope and I am not going to either - will wait for the 9500 version.

If it worked on both then why did they release two separate versions of .83?

Is there any improvement on battery life in the new OS? It seems after little usage on .75 my phone seems to very quickly tumble into the red.

That's what I'm anxious to see now. I've had good batt life all along. If it improves it will be awesome.

Yea, that could be it. I'm going down today after work to purchase a new one... hopefully that helps. I'm on my phone wayyy too much for it to be dying after an hour , thanks!

    Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster! I got my Storm on Christmas and am loving it so far.

Anyway I am updating to .85, but on the Summary screen where it says what apps will be backed up, etc, there is a line that says:

Unrecognized modules that will be removed:
    net_rim_bb_help_9500__en

Is there any foreseeable issues with that being removed? I'm guessing probably not, but figured I'd ask first.
