I'm wondering if anyone has seen the 3G icon appear on their storm? The manual says there is a difference between 1XEV and 3G. I spend considerable time in both downtown Washington, DC and Metro Nashville, TN. Both locations are within Verizon's 3G coverage area however, I have yet to see the 3G icon appear, only 1XEV

on pg 39 of the storm's manual it shows a picture of what the 3G icon looks like and what the 1XEV icon looks like. From the brief description whenever the 3G icon is displayed (which I have yet to see) you are able to browse the web, send emails and talk on phone simultaneously a feature you cannot do when connected to 1XEV.

You have to be on GSM in order to get the "3G" icon to appear. Verizon in the US is EVDO "1XEV"

The manual is explaining every aspect of the phone. I'm sure if you go overseas, 3G will show up. EVDO is CDMA's version of 3G.
