It's one of the most, if not, the most studied battle in history.

Napoleon was finally and completely defeated by the combined England, Prussia and Dutch armies.

Most historians call this an English victory, but only 40% of the Allied army was English. Wellington took great pains to keep the victory English, not letting Blucher getting any credit.

It's my favorite battle to study, trying to find out exactly why Napoleon lost.

And after 200 years, I still don't know why he lost so badly.

Wish I could have been in Belgium today to watch the reenactment for this anniversary.

He lost on account of a great many factors....

Just like BlackBerry's decline is tied to a great many factors also..

From what I remember back in school.

    Napoleon was sick
Rain cased delays in battle and problems with his cannons.
Delays allowed the reinforcements to arrive for Wellington
Wellington had the high ground and some key local villages
Napoleon had the numbers, but a portion of them were conscripts and loyalist that didn't want to be there, where Wellington army was more veterans
Napoleon had lost key officers - both to death and some had remained loyal to the King.

In other word, what could go wrong, went wrong for him.
