Hey, may be a stupid question and one that may have been answered already but I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for.

is 1XEV the same as 3G? I could swear that my Curve also said 1XEV which was I thought the data network it was on. Storm doesn't seem that much faster on the net then the 1XEV... Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance..

I believe the 1XEV is the equivelant for Verizon of the 3G.

1X is the voice service. EV (or EVDO) is the 3G data service.

I think 3G just means 3rd generation for example the CDMA networks have EVDO as our "3G" and GSM networks have EDGE as their "3G" it's just the GSM network did a better job marketing "3G"

No, 1X refers to 1x RTT data, not voice.

1xev typically means your phone hasn't connected/registered properly on the BIS network. TCP only, so only programs that use TCP will work.

1XEV should be fully functional BIS
