I made a call and it didn't change my caller ID correctly. It came up as New York Cell Phone. And there was a four second delay between me talking and the other person hearing what I said. It's a "blah" app for me.
I kinda fixed my apn error by setting the right Vodafone apn settings. But now it says tunnel failed..does this app work in Europe (Netherlands).. and in advanced settings it says cannot select acces number stil loading
"Caller ID service, however, is susceptible to fraud. Using a practice known as “caller ID spoofing,” disreputable parties can deliberately falsify the telephone number relayed as the Caller ID number to disguise the identity and originator of the call. Congress is currently considering new laws that would make this practice a crime and permit law enforcement authorities to take action against spoofers."
I keep trying to call my landline and it keeps routing me to some random number that either tells me that I won $50,000 or that I reach the radioshack helpline or some other similar.
It depends on how you use it. If you use it in a harmful way or to impostor someone else then it can be considered a crime.
Will you get caught? I would say 99.99% chance you wont. Their are much larger fish to fry then someone spoofing a number. I would just be careful who you spoof though.
I wonder what the receiving persons bill will say when getting spoofed. Will their bill list the spoofers real number, or the fake number? Anybody know?
