With everyone rushing out, or having had their Storm delivered via VZ website, how do they handle the thousands, or 10's of thousands people calling, or whatever, to activate their new Storm? Will I be on hold for hours?
I'm guessing I'll need to call them since I am de-activating my Curve and activating my Storm at the same time.
You will get an 800 # to call to activate your Storms. It's an automated system, takes 5 minutes.
Then you just *228, option 1 your phone to program.
You have to call the 800 # from any phone besides the new phone (obviously, since it's not yet active). Use a house phone or someone else's cell phone.
Once the new phone is activated the old is automatically deactivated.
Or you can do it online.

Even though they have to deactivate my old and activate my new?
Yes. Like chrisy520 says, your new phone will already come "setup" for your account. All you have to do is call the number and follow the automated directions.
Or, you can do it online via the ESN changer. I believe to activate a new phone online, you will have to have a bunch of info from your packing slip (order number, warehouse, etc.)
Edit: Contrary to what Chrisy says, you're supposed to do it from your new phone. This is how they know that you received it and are accepting the terms of the new contract.
You can't call from your new phone until it's activated in the system.
THEN, you need to program the new phone using *228, option 1.
The new phone WILL NOT be able to place calls until you get it activated on your account.
If you try to place a call FROM your new phone to activate your new phone, you will hear a recording saying the call cannot be completed. The phone will say activation required.
You will need your order number off your receipt to begin the activation process.

OMG, I think with everyone activating all these Storms, we might not only crash VZW's network, but I think RIM's network will crash as well! Holy smokes!!! ... wait... why does this sound so familiar?
GIVE ME A BREAK! DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THIS IS APPLE??!?!
What's next, oh wait, I know.
Why do I get dropped phone calls when I switch from EVDO RevA to EVDO Rev0.
Dyslexic Jews are hard to find. Don't think I know any, and considering I am Jewish, you'd think I might some in my synagogue or something...but no. They all see straight. And they're not all that smart either. Or rich. Stereotypes are funny that way.
You must remember...this is STILL a Blackberry. People arent exactly waiting in line to pay an extra $29 a month for their phone. I think you'll be fine.

Agreed completely - couldn't have said it better.
And now, back to my beer.
