I thought the "driftwood" would be tmobile's storm but i have found out that its a 3g 8900. im so bummed. I have also seen the post from Dec about rogers launching a storm but nothing yet on an american verzion, its been 5 months, something shoudl have been leaked...right?

i think the OP is asking if a domestic GSM carrier will offer the storm as a native device.

i believe VZW has an exclusive U.S. contract with RIM for rights to the storm, similar to the iphone....

I dont think that GSM carriers will take it because of the bad reviews of the the 9530, and the buggy software. it would be a better use of their $ to wait for the storm 2 and get a GSM version of that

i was asking cuz i want to get a storm but i cant decide to either get one now and unlock it and lose 3g or wait til the storm 2 and switch carriers or wait til T-Mobile will launch one and just continue my service with them

t-mobile won't have one for awhile i'd say...so the first two are better choices for now. you could have two phones before t-mobile offers it.

Just get a voda storm and unlock it, Thats what I did and yeah, Ive lost 3g but im not bothered as I wont use it anyway!

The 9500 can run on GSM, however, it sucks. This may be because of my provider. Although the GSM signal strength is high, it's very hard to understand what others are saying.

Yup just get a 9530 storm and just unlocc it and there u go!
