    The manual shows both 3G and 1XEV....will it ever show 3g, as i havent seen it show yet?

    If you're on VZW, it will only show 1XEV, which is Verizon's 3G service.

    The phone will show 3G if you're on a 3G GSM service.

    Verizon calls it or shows it as EVDO as it is a revision of the 3G hence the 3.5G revision which is the one they use.

    1XEV on the Storm == EVDO (I don't think the Storm will actually show "EVDO")

    I spoke to a Verizon rep today about all this... and he stated that 1XEV is their EVDO/3G. The Storm will show that when in a "3G area".

    In the U.S. no, as 1XEV is Verizon's 3G here like the others above me. But, since the UMTS 2100 mhz chip is there, if you are in Japan there is a possibility you will literally see the "3G" in the upper right corner.
