Who is staying with their Storm??
- This phone has had some good points and some bad. But in the end I absolutely love my phone and I would not trade it in for anything just yet not even the storm 2. I have had it since december and have not had much go wrong with it. So to the people that want to peaceout on the storm I tell them good luck. As for me you can call me a fanboy if you want but I am keeping my storm!!!!

Documentation is poor and app store is too expensive and hard to search07-16-09 06:48 AMLike 0

- I don't know now I was with the same storm since its release. Then my screen went BLACK WTF, so I go to the vzw store and got a replacement. The replacement SUCKS I can hardly type on this one, I'm really considering the tour now

- I am staying with my Storm. It is the best phone I ever have and there is no performance problem whatsoever.
I am a "landscape mode" person and I will never buy a phone that is primarily portrait mode (like the Tour or the Pre). On the current market, besides the iPhone 3gS, the Storm is the best landscape touch screen phone out there. Period!
When the iPhone 4G comes to Verizon Wireless, I will then leave my Storm for the "best of both worlds"..... superior GUI + superior network.07-16-09 10:34 PMLike 0 - patches152Banned^^^^^
what are you gonna do if RIM ups their game before 4G hits VZW??
i used a tour before i left on vacation (about 3 weeks ago now) and i felt like i was sacrificing too much screen. the OS wasn't any more stable or fast than the storm OS so the trade-off isn't that great. the only people i see leaving are those who are to "basic" to understand how to use a touch screen/keep breaking it, or those who just absolutely need a physical keyboard. but to say that the tour will be "better, faster, more stable" etc, aka performance improvement by changing devices, to this i say to ye:
they're the same fracking phone, one is a touch screen, one has a physical keyboard and trackball!!! other than that they're essentially the same thing. hope the placebo effect helps everyone out though!07-17-09 01:28 PMLike 0 - how do you switch to the tour? my storm is brand new but im sure chagnging to the tour will cost me like $500 right? if for free i'll change it now because i type a lot and it's a pain on the storm... i wish i had gotten the curve back then rather than the storm (i need a hard keyboard)07-17-09 02:01 PMLike 0
- I made the switch and patches is right...it's been tough having a screen that is only half as big...particularly for browsing the web. I'm not sure if I'm just getting used to the Tour, but I can still type a lot faster on the Storm as well as the keys are farther apart in landscape mode.
This being said, I was getting fed up with the screen lag on the Storm on days of heavy use and battery pulls were having to take place too often. The Tour is much faster to multi-task on (minimal lag) and I haven't had to pull the battery once.
Hopefully the Storm 2 will be the answer everyone is looking for.07-17-09 03:31 PMLike 0 -
- patches152Bannedsee for me though, the tour has the same amount of lag and frustrations that the storm has: very little, that is. if you're having lag issues enough to consider changing devices, something is wrong, and its definately something that can be resolved. anyone who has lag issues or needs to pull the battery more than once a week feel free to PM or email me. - patches152Bannedwe are all SO VERY GLAD you chimed in with this nugget of wisdom. unforunately, you are right, the storm is not the iphone. however, that is the main reason i purchased said "gay storm". because its NOT the iphone. it's so much more. i would feel so restricted and locked down with any apple product. i can't stand it. anyway, have a good day you ******* moron!07-17-09 04:34 PMLike 0

And for those who think the Storm2 is better, you will be disappointed. The Storm2 is still built on the same architecture. They just remove the clickable screen and add WiFi. Performance-wise, it should be no difference than the existing Storm. If you have performance issues with the existing Storm, you are going to have issues with Storm2. Neighbor's grass always look greener, but in fact, it is not.
I expect the Storm 3 will be completely redesigned under Don Lindsay's direction and should be running on 4G or LTE. That should be the Storm you want to switch to and not Storm2. If I have to choose between the Storm 3 and the iPhone 4G, that will be a good problem to have, and I look forward to having that problem. Until then, I am staying with my current Storm.Last edited by substring; 07-17-09 at 08:06 PM.
