    No when it just fades out on its own that is the screen saver and you can get back to what you were doing by simply touching anywhere on the screen. However if you want to have it go into standyby mode as if it were in a magnetic case you just press the button on the top left. To deactivate standby you press the same key.

    Top left is locking the device, not stand by correct?

    Yeah it's locking and when I do that it fades quicker.

    I agree, but the above post said to hit the top left button for stand by, as far as I know none of the buttons put the device into sleep mode.... Top left or right...

    no, it is not...

    If you lock the device, it is secured.
    But the device still responds to keys you are pressing and is asking for the password.
