    I have bought a new screen protecter. Mirror screen protecter and when i touch the screen to use the phone while it is flat on the floor it doesnt respond. Only when i have the phone in my hand it responds...

    Its pressure sensitive so if its on carpet or a cushion or something it wont respond as easily. Your hand give a firm responsive surface.

    sometimes it works when its on my table and most of the time it doesnt? i dont understand the pressure part?

    It has to be grounded to respond to touch like plugged into a charger or computer or in your hand I beleive

    Exactly. It has a capacitive screen; it registers your touch by measuring the electrical interference your finger makes. If there is nothing to complete the circuit (see quote), the phone won't respond.
