What do u mean by ? dust under the screen"??
- I have read a few times people mentioning
Dust under the screen..
But what exactly does this look like
On the screen?
And another thing... My
End call button is loose
Its like it has 2 clips
Underneath it but only one of them
Is clipped in. If I roll my finger nail across
It, the left side of the button
Just collapses in with out clicking.
Has n e 1 experienced the same 2 problems? And if so... N e fixes performed?
This is Storm number 5 and it will not be returned coz the screen click is perfect!
Current Storm made in Hungary early Feb. Also running .78
Thanks
Also does n e 1 else have the problem
Where u can see a bright white
Light coming through the gap on the bottom of the
Screen,by the buttons?

1) is dudt that gets between the back light that lights the screen and the screen itself. this appeears as spots or flecks that block the light from coming through. I don't know but I assume they are smaller than dead pixels.
2) dust under both the screen & backlight on the components themnselves. somepeople fear the gap around the edge of the screen will let dust/pocket lint into the innards of the phoen causing it to over heat ETC02-11-09 09:44 AMLike 0 - I have read a few times people mentioning

- I think the dust issue is nitpicking. I have a few little specs, but once you click the screen and it lights up, they are virtually unnoticeable.02-11-09 11:39 AMLike 0
- Ah ok I see now, that is the first time I have seen that and have also never posted from my storm anywhere02-11-09 12:04 PMLike 0
- ok im clear on the dust situation now... but that was really just a query..
My actual problems are - the light showing through on the bottom of the screen.
- The hang up button loose on one side like a clip is missing or snapped or something underneath...
N e 1 no if there are fixes for these?
Also Vodafone have a thing (as every company probs does) that they dont fix or give refurbed storms... only new ones... which is fine. But if i WANTED them to just fix these 2 problems i have instead of replace the Storm (as its taken me 5 to get a decent screen click) then do u no if they will do that???
I would really like to no the answer to these questions! lol cheers02-11-09 02:07 PMLike 0 -
- The light coming from under the screen is just something you have to deal with. Between my friends and I, I would say that I have played with almost ten different Storms, and they have the same issue. Although, on of my friends said he say another Storm that was made in Mexico and it did not have nearly as large of a gap around the edges of the screen. Who knows if this is actually true.
I have definately seen the dust under the screen though. The friend I was referring to above had that problem and it was really noticable when the phone displayed a white background. It was so annoying for him that he claimed insurance on his phone and paid $50 just so he could get one that didnt have dirt under the screen.02-11-09 07:39 PMLike 0 - The light coming from under the screen is just something you have to deal with. Ok thanks for that dude,
So has n e 1 fixed the loose button problem themselves at all??? thats the thing that annoys me the most!!! lol02-13-09 06:37 AMLike 0 - As for your loose button, there has been some other discussion on the forum about it. Some people, myself included, have loose send keys while others have loose end keys.
There are no real solutions that I have read other that requesting a new phone, which some people that have done that seem to be worse off than the loose button, because their new phone has bigger problems. One guy claimed he popped his loose button off and super glued it back on, but I think I will shy away from that.
If you do search for loose buttons in the 93xx forum, you should find a couple of threads.02-13-09 07:00 AMLike 0 - If you really want to replace your hard keys, and feel like taking your phone apart, you could always order new keys and replace them yourself.
BlackBerry Storm 9500/9530 OEM keypad- BenQ-Siemens, Sony, Motorola, Apple, Tools, Acer, Samsung, BlackBerry, SonyErics
I ordered a new bezel from that site, and I'm waiting for it to come in so I can switch mine out (I've dropped my storm a couple of times on the pavement). Hopefully dismantling the phone won't be that difficult!02-13-09 08:16 AMLike 0 -

For the record: once you have some dust, you will have more. And once it starts to accumulate, it is more and more noticeable. I always noticed it while watching videos.Last edited by Revolutionary; 02-13-09 at 09:36 AM.

As for sending the phone back for a replacement... thers no way im risking that again! lol i sent back my first storm for what would appear to be trivial reasons... 5 Storms later... i managed to get a semi decent one back lol You wouldnt believe it but one of the new ones they sent me was actually missing the panel from under the BB buttons, end call button etc... actually mental, i thought they were taking the p*ss when i opened it lol could see wires, screws... everything! ;o)
It just really annoys me how the phone costs so much (even tho its free on my contract), its the latest best smart phone around with so many capabilities, i mean it wasnt that long ago i was nocking around playing snake on my Nokia 3310! (Best phone ever by the way lol) and still it turns up at the door with panels missing, broken buttons, ridiculously shabby clicking screens (which is meant to be one of the key selling features of the device) and im just stood there thinkin wheres the Fu**ing quality control?? its simply not acceptable, software problems i can understand and deal with... but i have no tolerance for hardware problems. And when its got to the point where a person is actually afraid, AFRAID!, to return a faulty Storm due to hardware deficiencies because its a high possibilty that the newer phone they recieve will be even more screwed, then i think they need to seriously have a think about whats goin on. I dont no n e one on their first Storm.
Dont get me wrong, i love this phone, it can do n e thing... i rode it to work the other day lol im just hating the build quality right now!
N e ways i went on quite a rant there didnt i lol so i think il leave it there for today and go take a cold shower to calm down, Laters ;o)02-13-09 02:22 PMLike 0
