but i got a lot of bubbles on one side of the new protector i put on

push the bubbles out with a credit card

i had it on but the screen looks better with it off.

id put one on. the screen wont look so great when it gets scratched. it might also effect performance if you get larger scratches on it. always better safe then sorry. scratches arn't covered under the warrenty even if they affect performance because this is something that is considered physical damage or cosmetic.
