My thoughts are: keep trying. If calling Verizon won't work - visit a store. The same thing happened to me. Bought my storm on the 28th. Received letter in the mail the next week dated December 2nd. I walked into the store where I bought it, laid it on the counter, and they honored the letter. No questions asked. And I was ready to return and repurchase.
Retail stores are always so unpredictable. But if you try enough, you will get a person who will say YES to what you want.

I agree that I paid the price they were charging. What got my hackles up was that I received a personalized mailer in my mailbox offering me the cheaper price after I had already bought the phone.
Still not sure if I'm going to keep it anyway, so I'm taking a little more time to decide how I feel about the phone and take my next step.
The Price of the phone is 249.99 with a $50 Mail in rebate, there is now sales on this phone currently(most likely for at least 6mo anyway). Any Discount after that is on a case by case basis like ne2. there is NO MAILER offering $50 extra off the phone with Verizon Wireless at this time.
verizon is doing a return of all new plans/cells through jan. 15th. the reason is they are trying to pick up xmas sales, so if you are not satisfied with your plan/cell you can they will take back your purchase through jan 15th, with no breach of contract penalty. just a plain refund. so, if the extra $50 is an issue and verizon will not compensate, you can always return your phone and then repurchase it, thus getting not just the rebate but the additional $50 holiday sale.
I just called VZW and was transfered to 3 different people and they have no clue what this is all about. For those that did call and received it, what did you say? As far as everyone I talked to, they knew nothing about the "holiday special". Thanks
